A sad day indeed I joined up in beta (I think been so long ago) maybe a little later when Rip was looking to build up the numbers.  I had a blast as a member of the finest, JG2 was the first squad in AH that allowed me the opportunity to work with a fine bunch of players.  Ripsnort and his tank missions, weasel finally explaining what DTAS mean't, minus for 190 jabo training when I had no idea what a jabo was, Hirtso and his victorious 190 rumblers, Mrbean teaching me formation flying, Tonto telling of his seafaring escapades, and of course swager being probably one of the most good natured fellows I've ever had the pleasure of meeting online, wow the list is long and I apologize for not getting it down here.
Oh ya one other thing I miss, all those german speaking players giving any ami on RW a real sense of flying in dangerous skies.  I didn't understand a word they said most of the time but listening to them could sure scare ya into thinking something bad was about to happen to someone flying a spitfire :).

to all JG2 and 3./JG2

That is quite a roster! Many many pilots I have a lot of respect for.

Swager and crew you guys are a class act and are what a squad is all about. Hope you find a squad to your liking.  ;)

Let's drink to JG2! Never has a rowdier bunch roamed the skies.

I came to Ah from EAW. I thought I was Da Greatest Stick. What I basically was was one of them "full ppull andf turn til you can shoot" dweebs.

Ripsnort took me up on a flight one of the first days, even  before I joined JG2. Again and again, he shot me down - I could not understand how he could get on my 6 all the time - I was turning as hard as I could!

"You lose it at the merge, bud" Rip said. I did not understand how that could be so.

I was turning so hard I stalled out several times, so *I* should be on his 6. And why did he go up like that, and why could I not follow? We had the same speed at the merge, and surely turning couldn't bleed much speed?

I relied on Weazel and Ripsnort a lot in the start. Tried learning the G10. Then flew the Spit. Then the 51 and 38, before going back into the G10 again.

Flew with the whole squads. All of a sudden, I observed them - Saw in his 51, Comanche and Apache coming in to clear my 6. Slowly, I begun to understand the concept of E. 'Scissors' - what an odd name, and why do they say it's purely defensive, and that if youøre doing it, you've really fediddleed up earlier? Weird, but gotta try it.

Rolling scissors? HUH? These guys are weird. And how can they talk about the exact HP an engine lets out, and fdifferent subvariants of the 109? Exceeding odd, this.

Why can't *I* understand and use the strengths of my plane like they can?

They showed me.

JG2 truly has been the 'mentor' squad for me - along with all the people, all willing to help out.

Most of my current squad is former JG2 - a tough break at the time, but the LW elitism had firmly taken hold of me, and LW ONLY was stamped on my forehead.

Glassess, Kirin, Hristo, Saw...

Other great squads formed from former JG2 members - Maik's Black Adders, Ripsnorts Death Rattlers...the list goes on.

It is, and will remain, one of the most unique squads in AH.

So to JG2: I raise my glass!   Swager, Weazel and all the rest of you sorry lot. Dirnk and be merry, because tomorrow we may die :)

My earliest rememberance of JG2 was in Jan. 2000, about 2 months after it was formed. Weazel remembered me from WB's and asked me to join the squadron, said he needed an XO, and he had I believe about 6 members in the squad.  I declined twice for the XO since "i just want to be a grunt and fly with you guys"...but his persistence payed off and I took the job.

Fond, fond memories of JG2, very much fun!  Like the time we encirlced 2 C47's with B17's, and a handful of escorts, flew deep into enemy territory, and captured their fields.

Oh, so many good memories.  of the 65+ members divided into two squads (one US time zone, one Euro) we once got 35 members online for a photo shoot/operations.  Fun fun times...miss you all very much. OTOH, theres a JG2 alive somewhere in alot of squads in AH.  We'll always have a special place in our Online sims for each others company.

Stsanta, I never thought you'd amount to much in the first couple weeks we flew together..., damn your a quick learner!

Sorry to hear that Swagger.  I took great pride in being both the XO and the CO after Weazel stepped down...as well as the Communications officer, remember this?:

Blast from the past. :)

JG2 and all its past members.

Ironically, this is what busted up the squadron in June 2000 when we did this:

Quote
JG2 to change countries in 'Good Will' tour

JG2 put it to a vote, and majority ruled. Tour 6 JG2 (both squadrons) will be changing countries on a 'Good Will' tour to share our vast knowledge and
experience by 'visiting' another country. As the Allies did in WW2 with bomb runs ending in Russia, JG2 will do the same. It was decided to go to
Rooks. Funked requested that we fight against them rather than with them, since we have a friendly rivalry going with this squad. As of July 3rd, 2000,
all JG2 wanting to participate in this Good Will tour will report to Rooks. Those not wanting to participate can remain Knight, but will be considered
open game for those who move to Rooks. At the end of tour 6 we will move back to Knights for tour 7. Another vote the following month will tally up for
another change of country tour for tour 8. We will see how the first change of countries turns out.

This change will be beneficial to JG2 in how the enemy executes tactics, as well as flying with those we've been shooting down for the last few
months. It can only solidify this fine squadron we have here in Aces High. As you know, the 308th has done this as well, with no demoralizing sides
effects. Looking forward to seeing you all in Rookland!
