WinXP Pro occassional stutter in AH .. memory settings? txt
« on: February 02, 2002, 02:20:51 PM »
My system is in my sig, Im running XP pro for my o/s. My sytem is running great, frame rates are at a constant 75 (refresh rate). Im noticing in AH when I'm flying My screen will lag for a second, like theres not enough memory or something, its quite annoying.Iv'e  never had this problem with earlier o/s. Is there an optimal virtual memory settings or swap file setting I should use that will clear up these stutters?

That fix is for nVidia cards only as far as I'm aware.  All it does is tweak some registry entries in the nVidia folders.

I would try some different drivers from ATI, and possibly try some other sound card drivers, as they may also cause the problem.

Also, try DX 8.1 if you don't have it already.  I'm not aware of it curing any stuttering problems, but it does seem to give higher framerates.

I set up a dual boot to try XP pro and am experiencing lots of stuttering with a 75 framerate. I switch to my 98se partition and AH runs smooth. I've installed the refresh fix for nvidia and done the udates at mickeysoft.
K7vta pro board  via 133a chipset
native xp via drivers (might this be it?)
winfast G3 ti2oo with 21.83 drivers
mx 300 sound with xp native drivers
384 megs pc 133 cas 2 sdram
xp 1600 running at xp 1700 speed
12 gigs on the xp partition with 8 gigs free ata 100 wd drive
saitek x-36 with Dauhmers drivers
ch pro usb peddles
Just looking for ideas.
