Anyone notice the numbers dropping???

LePaul,

Our group has some good buff drivers, and we've flown in the same general area's as you have on several occasions. If you're looking for a group to wing up with and do some combined runs, let me know. We were the 416 Lynx in AW, but changed to 441 Silver Fox here out of respect of your old squad having been here prior to us. We're planning to fly in both the MA and CT as like yourself, we're finding the MA not suitable for our type of missions.

streak,
I suspect that there are more than a few people who keep their accounts open but fly very little.
I flew less than 15 hours last tour in the MA....less than 1/2 hour a day.   Just not much appeal there anymore for me.
I know my CO said he was burnt out on AH......guess I am getting that way too.  Been doing this for 3 years now, lotsa stuff has changed, some good, some bad.
If the numbers are in fact dropping, it is in no way the "L" boy's fault.  Times change, people change.  Players come and go in any game.  IL-2 holds a strong appeal for me after hearing from some of squaddies.  Maybe I'll give it a look, but I don't see myself quitting AH anytime soon.

I was leaning towards the same view as you Drunky... thinking that the MA was breaking down and getting a little depressed about it.  Once that happens... everything is amplified.  Things that kinda annoyed you earlier really grate on you during this time.  Eventually objectivity is a thing of the past and bitter resentment kicks in.

Then I began to notice that by changing my mentality in the arena I could modulate my own fun.  Once I started doing that, the objectivity kicked back in and I noticed things beyond those that simply grated on me before.

I chose to fly alone under an alias.  The point was simply to relax while flying and not worry about anything beyond my view on the screen.  Mostly I defended fields from incoming attacks.  I tried to avoid Furballs most of the time... with the occasional reminder flight into one to point out why its better to avoid them.  I still managed to bump my k/t higher than its ever been before by flying the way I liked to fly... and avoiding furballs.

I also found that even the new players were willing to play the strat game... they just weren't very good at it... YET.  I could see them developing as players and found that they were actually more willing to listen to strat suggestions.  It was quite refreshing.

Basically, the MA is changing.  It will continue to eb and flow as a result of the influx of people and the learning curve involved.  Its a matter of deciding whether you want to ride out the waves or not.  That's totally your decision.

Just be carefull that the funk isn't skewing perspective.  It can happen... I know it for a fact.

>(That and the porked goons re-upping what a squadron of B-
>17s have dropped.

I think you've stumbled into the truth there LePaul.  I my mind the implementation of that feature has had a bad effect on the gameplay.

I understand the idea behind it, but it needs further refinement.  I think bases, etc.. shouldn't repair at all without goon or train resupply, and then only at the old rate they used to.  Actually, it should take 3 or 4 goons to bring a base back up to 100% in increment.

Strat efforts have been made silly and pointless.  So everyone just furballs without a sense of purpose.

(shrug)  Furballing is fun, but sometimes I like a bit of variety.

Have you guys been playing in the same 400+ arena I have?  Unless you're looking very short term (ie night to night), that's a rather odd definition of decline.

I'm curious, does the HTC staff even read this threads? I hope they do and consider what's being discussed here. I found AH just a couple months ago and love this game, I'm sad to see dedicated players leave like this.

Ok ok.  Calm down. :)  The sky is NOT falling.

This always happens towards the end of a developement cycle.  People get burnt out from playing 23 hours per day, and they want too see something new.

When 1.09 comes out, the numbers will soar.

Dont sweat it SunKing, Im still here :)

AcesHigh has changed a whole bunch since BETA tour 1 thats fer sure.

Even back in the early days large gobs of so called "Vets" would get pissed off about something and go relieve themselves in someone elses sandbox.

Also, its seriously time for another update (ie new rides) and some new terrains (oh hell YA, needed badly).

I have always believed that these types of online games are strictly what the user him/herself brings online, not what ANYONE else brings.  In other words, if you like sims, fly like its a sim and be happy.

The MA doesn't seem to have much of a numbers decline over the past month. Looks to be the exact opposite to me. Heck it was just a week or so ago that there were several threads here on the player base increasing too quickly and it being TOO crowded in the MA.

There may indeed be things folks want changed but there certainly doesn't seem to be a numbers decline over the last month. Not that I've noticed anyway.

I almost never fly in the MA anymore.  Nothing wrong with the MA, but too much of anything like that gets boring.  I don't think too many of my squaddies fly much in the MA either.  But we are still happy with the Aces High product, because of things like TOD and the Combat Theater.  I do 90% of my flying in those arenas, and I have a blast.  I fly about 1/4 the time that I used to, and have 4 times the fun.  So I might be part of "decreased numbers" in the MA but I am still a quite satisfied customer.

We need bigger maps!  Give us bigger maps and the numbers will bounce right back.
