Guns, Ranges and Damage!

Over the last 4-5 weeks, i am getting more and more upset with the unreliable & unpredictable weapons and damage modeling.

This mainly comes from the point that i get the feeling over and over again, that i always hang on the short end of the modeling.

Here a few examples:

Field acks: If i do a last ditch defense by flying into own ack, most of the time, the guy behind me simply ignores it and flies through, not getting harmed or anything.
But if i do the same, about 99% of the times, the 1st pass is my last, even if i do evasive actions.


PZR: If i try to kill em, they are something like a rock, you can scratch the surface, but you cant kill it.
When i am in a PZR even an MG armed plane shredders me in the 1st 2 passes.

Guns: If i use a cannon, and see about 6-8 pings on my tgt, it often flies on, showing now effect.
If i am fired at, even a single 0.5 cal at 750 yrds will get a part of my plane. I too often now lost a radiator, an elevator, rudder, flap or entire tailplane to such long range spray and praying.
Not to talk about cannon armed planes hitting me, there the 1st ping most times is the last thing i hear before i am back in the tower.


I dont think this is a connection issue, cause i have a better and more stable con than ever to the MA. I also dont have vsync disabled, so it cant be the rubber bullets prob.

That last one I experience too, but it's explainable by lag and hit packets coming in one big burst. Several .50 pings result in 1 big bang that breaks up your plane..

The ack thingy.. Same here. Except I never ackhug unless it's something like 3:1 hi-alt enemy around. If I dive into enemy ack I never expect to fly away from there if I have high speed. So I never dive there anymore. I don't do jabo because it's a 1-way mission without exceptions. Sometimes happens that I strafe an ack and it manages to ping me dead before its death gets updated to my f.e. Or once I dove after an enemy at 500mph, he flew over city with 1 ack up and the ack hit me 3 times in 2 seconds while I passed the city low.

Panzer / m16: Sometimes I survive a couple passes.. Then sometimes the panzer dies almost instantly from first pass. Either dies or flips over with a broken track. Then I try to kill a panzer with hurri and 40mm, score 5 hits and panzer shows no damage.

The big cannons are definately porked in AH. Sometimes they kill with first hit, sometimes cons take many hits and not show any damage. It's also amazing that I've never scored a fighter kill when I'm shelling a field from fleet with planes taking off constantly.

Sometimes it happens to me that enemy tries to HO me, I dive under him to avoid his attack.. But all of the sudden my wingtip cracks away. It has happened that I've had to bail after that but the enemy who passed me didn't get a victory so the damage was not from shooting or collision..

Biggest prob seems to be that some players absorb huge loads of hits before they die. It's happened to me to attack a lancaster in 190a8 with two consequtive sorties (he shot me down on first, reuped and attacked him again) and during both sorties lit him up with 20mm+30mm hits. On the second sortie I made several passes with cannons only, closest hits from D150 without any result. Then finally a sustained 2 second burst from D200 to his tail while he was landing did the trick. I filmed it.

Just today I shot up a la7 in a pony, first pass burst to wing and he droped like a rock.. Then I attacked another la7 later with a similar burst to the wing but he flies away unharmed. This kind of inconsistency in the damages is exactly why people scream about cheaters etc.. Regardless of the reason be it packet loss or something else, some people are 10x harder to damage than others in the arena.

I once vulched a newbie taking off a field in a n1k 3 times in a row.. His friend taking off with a n1k also from the field took 2-3 times as long spray to drop. Another newbie 0.5 seconds and down he goes.. another newbie 1-1.5 seconds before he dies. Both being vulched so its not about evasives and me missing.
