Volume
« on: February 06, 2002, 05:07:53 PM »
Have tried to increase flap and gear sounds and lower  ack and cannon fire. I have done this in sound on set-up but can't get flap and gear sound loud enough or ack and cannon fire soft enough. Tried to change volume in AH sound directory"folder" but that doesn't work. Have tried to lower all other sounds, that works but volume on anything else will blow you away. Any ideas!!  DDT

Punch up the Windows sound recorder, open the files you want to alter, and boost the volume. If you don't mind playing with shareware, head over to http://www.goldwave.com and get their trial copy. By using Goldwave and not the sound recorder you'll probably come out with a clearer sound. Be careful though, when boosting volume only do it 10% at a time. It gets tedious I admit but that's the only way to get the sound balanced right. Otherwise you end up with flap sounds that blow your ears off, and an engine sound you can't hear.
