The Channel 1944, the next CT set up coming the 9th
« on: February 06, 2002, 07:59:29 PM »
The next CT set up will be starting on the 9th of Febuary and will be, The Channel 1944, we will have a primarly 1944 plane set with some planes from earlier in the war to add some depth to the set. The set up will use the Europe map and have the Germans in France and the Alies in England, full field capture will be enabled. The Germans will have the B 17 as a substitute for the He 177 and the Spit 9 and Me 109G10 will be perked at 1 PP each. This set up should be a lot of fun do to the short distances between several of the fields along the channel.

Axis:

AR 234(15 perks)
Bf 109 (all models) G10 perked at 1pp
C 47(JU 52)
FW 190's(all models)
JU 88A4
Ostwind
M-3
M-8
Panzer
PT boat
B 17G(replacement for He 177, will add some balence in this area)
Me 262(25 perks)

Allied:

B 17G
B 26B
C 47
M 16
M 3
M 8
Panzer
P 38
P 51D & B
P 47(all models)
Pt boat
Spit V
Spit IX ( 1 perk point)
Typhoon

Looks like fun!

suggestion... enable the fleets for both sides, but render them unable to launch air ops, (bombardment and amphibious ops fleets only) and disallow any coastal land base capture that does not originate from the fleets LVT's.  Force amphibious assault to crack europe or england!

just an idea... and regardless, this one sounds like fun too!

I will be there, as usual  :)

BTW, I strongly second Hangtime's suggestion....I'd like to see some kind of D-Day reenactment.

Cheers,

Pepe

I like Hangtime's suggestion. Is it possible to set LVT spawn points away from the CV so you could have the CV a few miles off coast, but the LVTs spawn closer to shore?

My own suggestion (posted numerous times before) is to have two kinds of fleets in any set up (including the MA); a CV/DE fleet (with no LVT's or PT's available) and a cruiser/DE fleet (with LVT's and PTs enabled).  The CV's would have no reason to come in-shore, as they would have neither big guns or LVT's.  It wouldn't stop it entirely, but would at least remove incentive to park the CV right off the enemy base.  The cruiser fleet would in fact become the Amphibias Assault force.

Expect to see the 412th FS "Braunco Mustangs" in this tour.

Will be my first venture into CT. Was waiting for my trusted 51D to show up.

I can't wait to fly against all German.

Just out of curiosity, why is the Spit IX perked but none of the other allied fighters are, except the Tempest?

You might get a response from the CT team more easily in the CT forum.. just an idea. :)

I can't speak for the CT team, but I think they are afraid if they don't perk the SpitIX that they will see far too many of them.  It is only 1 perk point so it's pretty much affordable after a single sortie in... well anything. :)  Same with the G-10.

I'm not sure I agree personally, but lets wait till it runs ans see what happens.  Once we've run that setup for a while, we'll all have more information to work with.

Plus, I'll always be happy as long as I can fly my Jug. :D

Agreed, 1 point ain't much but thats not the point.

The axis perked fighter is the 109G10. The allied perked fighter is the spitIX and not the P51D? Here is a reason I'm against player controlled arenas. A vocal minority rules. Just check out the "Perk the spitIX" thread.

apache, of course it's a vocal minority.  the majority that's silent are the Spit drivers who don't want the Spit IX perked! :D  seriously, there are far more Spits in the arena than anything else if not controlled.  Personally, I don't care if a slow '42-'43 plane is abundant in the theater it's supposed to be in (Euro theater).  Temp and 262 need to be perked.  let the rest go, but that's just my $0.02.

psst, hey ponyphiles...  The P51D has been active all week.  sure it's at a 3 point perk, but are you telling me you can't get 3 perkies flying the B model against crappy Axis planes???  :D

hehehhe.. actually. I fly a LW 109F4 till I get about 20-30 perkies, then switch back to allied and burn them points up furballin the P51D.  Somthin kinda ironic in that somewhere.. using LW tin to buy a Pony. ;)
