New aircraft releases: question
« on: February 08, 2002, 11:57:33 AM »
What would you guys think of getting one new plane at the start of each tour (basically one plane a month) downloaded as a forced update through the auto-updater, instead of waiting 3-4 months for a batch of 6-8 planes?

Im actually surprized it takes HTC as long as it has lately to release new planes.   I dont understand the process so I cannot be critical, just befuddled.  I would think the crew could put together a few planes for dedicated releases between major versions but I dont think this has happened more than a few times (in patches).

Wierd thing is we are missing so many planes and vehicles not yet included and here we are three years later.  AH is starting to age compared to newer game engines.  Not complaining.  Im still having fun.  Just observing.

When do we get AHv2.0 with new game engine?

As long as the plane has no new features that require reprogramming of the game engine (like a real working norden bombsight, periscope rear guns, shrage musik, cluster bombs, or napalm), it shouldn't be all that difficult, right?  It should just be a matter of having a 3d model and a flight model--not saying that either are easy.

both the bubbletop P-47s were introduced in patch level versions of AH, not full versions.  Would be nice if we got a new plane every patch or two.

Yeager, I think they've been focusing on other aspects of the business for a while, and are just getting back to focusing on development. Hopefully the next development cycle will be smaller...and include the Kate, Val, SBD, P-400, P-40, P-38F and F4F. :)

Lot of internal stuff they have to deal with as well as programing new planes. They do ALOT of research on the planes as well I think. People also peak and valley w/burn out in the tech fields as well...

Personaly it still amazes me at how much they put out for such a small company.

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

They don't. Pyro ones mentioned that he is spending very few time for planes research, usually he does it during the weekends.

Wow, you mean all these books I've been reading through and examining aircraft interiors isn't research?!  ;)
You'd be amazed how long it takes to find the one stupid picture or piece of info you're looking for.  It is usually pretty quick and easy, though because Pyro has a huge library in his office, and having a quick connection to the internet helps.  Believe me, we aren't just "slapping planes together" here.
We've also been working on a lot of other HTC business such as the Red Baron stearman project which has held us back.

You guys ever heard the term "marketing"?  The Stearman is not going to be in Aces High.  Go to an airshow featuring the Red Baron Stearman Squardon, and you'll most likely be able to fly it there in a simulator once it's been released.

We are all working hard on 1.09 right now.  Please be patient.  You should know by now that Aces High is always our priority, and we are always pushing to make it better in every way.  Marketing ourselves (ie: Red Baron) is one of those ways.

Visit the CT, get involved with a squad, try a different plane/vehicle/strategy/country/squad, or join in player created missions if things get monotonous.  A lot of the sucess of AH depends on our community.  Help the newbies.  Work on your l33t skillz and have some fun you suXXorz!  More is on the way...

Aww man, I'm glad this guy is a dog!  Other than leaving out early Zekes, it's right on the money for my perfect wish-list.
