"The release date for the Cougar is the 21st March, 2002. The first Cougars will appear in European shops, followed swiftly by the rest of the World.

The Cougar will appear in different countries on different dates after the 21st March, due to timing differences in distribution, and for no other reason. It is not possible to say exactly on what date they will appear in specific countries.

A limited quantity for Worldwide distribution are being produced in batch 1 and we are advising those who are sure they want a Cougar to pre-order. The number of Cougars in the first batch is commercially sensitive and we can't release that information, so please don't ask. ;) "

Cool now I have a real date to put with my pre-order. Where did you find this information Spro? I have been looking all over the normal sites for any and all information on the release date and news for it but nothing was coming up for me.

Posted this before , just look back far enough ( on this forum) you will find it .

They are going to have 4 eight way hats .

I then stated that I bet that at "least one of those would be easy to reach" , unlike for me the CH Combat or Fighter sticks . I really do like Ch products but wtf they HAVE to have only ONE eight way hat and it seems to HAVE to be the UPPER most , FARTHEST one , is beyond me

I use and pug their USB pedals all the time . CH"s new throttle is nice but would have liked a rotary wheel instead of the minijoystick or at least another four way hat .

Saitek feels good to me but it just doesn't hold up under constant use . PLus the center has alot of built in slop . x36 that is , x45 I gave mine away , didn't even install it .

Now the Microsoft FFB2 stick with a throttle and pedals is the cats bellybutton IMO . I love the buffet and stall forces , too damn bad it doesn't have only 4 buttons you can reach while you have your other hand on a throttle :(

It's going to be hard for me to give it up when the couger goes gold .

Oh ya for 250 USD's pre ordered I hope I like the bleeding thing , hehe .

take care all

Hi Spro,
nice setup.
I have a question for you:
I'm using a MS FFB and Hoffmann pedals (digital).
I 'd like to buy a throttle device.
I noticed you got MsFFB2 and CH pedals.
But you have also a CH throttle.
Is it USB or not?
If not (in this case should be the old version) are you using a double game port?
In other words:
are CH throttle (old and USB version) and MSFFB compatible?

Tks in advance,

As a consequence of getting a little antsy over "getting" my pre-ordered Cougar I called Chips and Bits. To check on how many they have committed versus orders. As of today when speaking with "Bill" there at the company they have 550 on order from the manufacturer and 316 allocated to customers. So for $250 US plus shipping you can still get a Cougar from them. My total cost was right around $280 after shipping was added.

LUPO : As  -lynx- states it's a x35 ( usb ) , I have the joystick under my desk as I am using the FFB2 stick  .

Now I have a non USB Ch Pro throttle that I would "like" to get  working but it has issues with my MB ( gigibyte , AMD 761 chip )  I guess , as it squels like a stuck pig on boot up when it's connected to the keyboard passthrough . I really don't know why it won't work .

IMO for what it's worth , you should go with the newest tech. , the CH Pro USB throttle . I  had one worked ok , should work fine in all games that let you have "multi" controler inputs . Like AH , WB3 , CFS1 , 2 , FS 2002 , etc . does . Now EAW , Falcon 4.0 , USAF  , or WW2Fighters etc won't work , only one controler setup on the windows applet will . ( unless you use the Saitek hotta's with Bob Churches pedal driver for USB or analog pedals , then EAW won't still 8^(  ,  )

I didn't much like the mini stick on the new Ch throttle but I didn't use it for very long either before I sent it back to
http://www.buy.com

For AH in controler you can get to work on your OS thats on your PC will work in AH . Hell I can even use the throttle on the FFB2 for RPM control if I wanted to .

take care
spro

PS: Tumor , hehe  airsid brought that bottle of Jim Beam in Boston when he came over to visit me , only he drank HALF of it before he could give it too me , lol .

Miller's was on sale at Riteaid , if you check with my old squad you would find I am a very cheap drunk , hehe .

I love giant jumbo's , the cheaper the better , 8^)

I have that desk calendar at work, today was the 109 :)

Also have the throttle and peds took the ffb2 back to store and now back with X45 stick to match throttle...

sounds like you'll be able to buy 3 - X45 Saitek HOTAS ($80 x 3 = $240) for the cost of one Cougar .... can't justify that no matter how many hats it has ...

They're 4-way hats because the hat assembly only contains 4 mini-switches.  As Xjazz points out, they can be programmed as 8-way hats...the center position making it 9-way.
