I was reading dicod's post and I had a thought.
What if we were to share our brushes with the rich and/or famous? I'm sure we have some good stories out there. I'll start.
As I have posted before, I was a Special Ed. teacher. I was also involved in the planning and organization of our County Special Olympics, and even attended the International Special Olympics, (as a coach...not a participant

).
Anyway I was at the International games and was pushing my athlete's wheelchair to the "celebrity" area. My athlete was actually not retarded (we were cheating according to the SO bylaws) but had Cerebral Palsy. John would point out the celebrity he wanted for an autograph, and I would do all the talking. This brought me into conversations with Phil Donohue, Marlo Thomas, Henry Winkler, Beau Bridges, Frank Gifford and many more. But thats not the story.
There was a "Picture tent" where the SO Athlete could go to have his picture taken with whomever he chose that was in the tent at that time. We waited in line, and when we got into the tent there were 3 celebs to choose from. I was ecstatic! Hank Aaron! Muhammed Ali!!! and off in the corner.....Dick Sargent. "John" I asked, "Hank or Ali?"
"Dick Sargent" he said.
I tried again....."you sure?"
"Dick Sargent" this time with feeling!
By now people were staring. I was lost. I looked longingly at my heroes as I slowly pushed John over to meet Dick freaking Sargent.
I will never forget the day I ALMOST met Muhammed Ali.
