Subject: Gold Star Mothers You really should be sitting down when you read
this one.

Gold Star Mothers is an organization made up of women whose sons were
killed in military combat during service in the United States armed forces.
Recently a delegation of New York State Gold Star Mothers made a trip to
Washington, DC to discuss various concerns with their elected
representatives. According to published reports, there was only one
politician who refused to meet with these ladies.

Can you guess which politician that might be? Was it New York Senator
Charles Schumer? Nope, he met with them. Try again. Do you know anyone
serving in the Senate who has never showed anything but contempt for our
military? Do you happen to know the name of any politician in Washington
who's husband once wrote of his loathing for the military? Now you're
getting warm! You got it! None other than the Queen herself, Hillary
Clinton. She refused repeated requests to meet with the Gold Star Mothers.

Think about this one !!! Don't forget, our girl, Hillary Rodham Clinton, as
a New York Senator, now comes under this fancy Congressional Retirement and
Staffing Plan. It's common knowledge that, in order for her to establish
NYS residency,
they purchased a million+ dollar house in upscale Chappaqua, NY. Makes
sense. Now, they are entitled to Secret Service protection for life.

Still makes sense.

Here is where it becomes interesting. The mortgage payments hover at about
$10,000 per month. BUT, an extra residency had to be built within the
acreage in order to house the Secret Service agents. The Clinton's now
charge the Secret Service $10,000 monthly rent for the use of said Secret
service residence and that rent is just about equal to their mortgage
payment, meaning that we, the tax payers, are paying the Clinton's
mortgage, their transportation, their safety and security, their 12 man
staff, and it's all perfectly legal.

Now -- please don't tell me you're surprised. This woman wants to be
President of the United States --- and there is a huge percentage of voters
who are eager to help her achieve that goal.

Sincerely, Cdr. Hamilton McWhorter USN (ret)

PS: Please forward this to as many people as you can. We don't want this
woman to even think of running for President. May you sleep in peace
always...and please...hug or thank a Veteran or active military for that
privilege.

The Secret Service coverage and fees is pretty irrelvant in my book.  The president gets $200,000 per year while in office.  Probably one of the worst salaries for any executive.  These post-presidential perks are normal.  Every ex-pres gets them.  It get's a basic "who cares?" from me.

As for the "Gold Star Mothers" part of the story... it may be true, but it may not be true.  This whole post is surrounded by the aura of disinformation.

And that's from someone that can't stand Hillary Clinton.

bull. As usual.

http://urbanlegends.about.com/library/blgoldstar.htm

Comments:  Georgianna Carter-Krell, National President of The American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., issued the following statement on the organization's Website:

With regard to the NewsMax article concerning our organization, the American Gold Star Mothers, Inc., deeply regret the misunderstanding about Senator Hillary Clinton. The two mothers who visited Washington did not have an appointment with the Senator and she was not in her office on that day. We would appreciate it if the e-mails and negative comments about Senator Clinton would cease.
The referenced NewsMax.com article appeared on May 26, 2001 and is essentially a fictionalized version of actual events. According to the Albany Times-Union, what really happened was this: When two representatives of Gold Star Mothers visited Clinton's office unannounced in February 2001, they were treated perfunctorily by a clueless receptionist who evidently refused to give them any help beyond informing them that the Senator was out. Clinton later apologized for the incident, attributing the slight to having a skeletal, undertrained staff in the early days of her term, and has since been in direct communication with members of the organization regarding its bid for legislation.

Went to the"facts" link and sure enough the bottom of the page clearly indicates how the Gold Star Mothers were treated by the Senator's office, shamefully!!

Isn't it amazing how these elected officials are always apologetic and always have an excuse for their obvious ignorance.

It's a shame that the National President, Georgianna Carter-Krell, thinks that this treatment is dismissable:(   I guess to try for favorable treatment of her agenda by the Senator she has to tow the line.  Oh, well, to each his or her own:(

On your link, go to the bottom of the page and reread the box with the quote by Shirley Jones.

These are the facts as reported by a witness who was there.  Therefore, because she was there and had first hand knowlege we must not believe her, right?

Well, I guess the treatment by the Senator's office of these Mothers who have experienced the loss of their children is ok with you, right?

Well, for me it is inexcusible and no apology can right this insensitive treatment by the Senator or her office.  It just indicates to me that the Senator is "out of touch" with reality and spends too much time isloated.

"It got blown out of proportion, in a way," Gold Star Mother Shirley Jones said of a flurry of nationwide carping about New York's junior senator after Jones made a few offhand remarks about her organization's reception at U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton's Capitol Hill office in February.

blown out of proportion

Jones . . . said she and another mother were disappointed when they stopped by Clinton's office to lobby for legislation to provide annuities for Gold Star parents and weren't even given a few moments with a staff member.

remember...no appointment, and the Senator was not there!

She said Clinton's receptionist seemed oblivious to Gold Star Mothers, the Vietnam War and the losses American families suffered because of it.

Clinton's receptionist! Now we have a smoking gun!

Clinton's office is apologetic about the slight, saying the senator's temporary basement office was understaffed during her first months in office and the staff has since reached out to communicate with Jones about the legislation.

Simply horrible............

You have taken an urban legend and given it wings.....nuff said.

"She said Clinton's receptionist seemed oblivious to Gold Star Mothers, the Vietnam War and the losses American families suffered because of it. "

This demonstrates the Jr Senator of the state of New York as one who is incapable of surrounding herself with competent staff.  Let's us hope she never gets into a position where life and death decisions would be made by her and her staff.
