Is there something new about language filter we should know?
« on: February 13, 2002, 09:44:50 AM »
I was trying to help out another pilot in the MA a little while ago and I was muted for typing the following message.  He was asking about AHVoice and if you had to start it up separately every time....I told him this:

"cc...until the next release you have to"

I received the warning box and was dumbfounded...so like an idiot, I typed it again.  I thought maybe I misspelled something and it looked like a curse word.  Nope...I have been muted for 10 minutes.

So, did something in the language filter change or are we being punished for mentioning the word 'release'when we are so close to the next one?  :D

cc...until

I'm pretty sure the language filter takes "." into account.

That's plain stupid! I'm glad I don't live in S bigtoehorpe. Or talk about open islands or keeping abreast of the situation or... And they allow a callsign of banana???

HTC, I suggest you improve your profanity filter or disable it.

funny thing, this language filter.....
A couple weeks ago, some idiot kept calling people "popsicle" every time they didn't fly exactly as he thought they should.  Several of us were bagging on him, telling him to knock it off.  The filter obviously didn't catch him, but during all this commotion, another pilot messaged me on private channel to talk about this guy.  I replied with (on PRIVATE chan!) something to the effect of, "yeah, too bad there are so many toejam talkers these days..." and I got the warning!!!  I agree with others that there could be some improvement in what may not seem like a serious issue to some.  Dunno........

This reminds me of when Zeb and I used to run an Amateur Radio BBS - we had a filter which put messages containing certain words on hold until they could be checked.  The number of times messages with football results got held due to "S bigtoehorpe" being mentioned was unbelievable!  :p

I've been muted one (and only one) time in all my AH life !!!

By answering to my (french) wingman who was asking wich plane I was using
I typed : c un Typhoon ... (short version of "c'est un Typhoon")
wich mean : it's a Typhoon

got muted because of that :D
cc un Typhoon ...

Now if somone would be kind enought to explain me what is a  bigtoe ?

Straffo it was your original portal to this world and while you can't go home again you probably enjoy visiting similar localities.  :p
