Issue: a couple guys smoking crack and having sex in the restroom. Ick, ick, ick.

Not the issue: They were gay. So? It's disgusting and illegal no matter the gender or orientation of those involved. It didn't sound to me like discrimination by the Air Force or American airlines, unless they would be given to react differently if the people were a man and woman or two women? Who knows? Who cares? Why assume the worst?

You are sadly mistaken, my friend. My wife's cousin flies the LA to Sidney, Australia route for American Airlines and he assures me that sex is a regular part of the flight, as is drug abuse. He has told me stories about Stewardesses who "service" the crew (he's just seperated from his third wife) while they smoke crack right there in the cockpit and how it's not at all uncommon for couples to spend "quality time" together in a bathroom...or, if the lights are dimmed, to simply request a blanket so they might cover his lap- and HER head.
He has NEVER ONCE mentioned being shadowed by Air Force F16s due to hetrosexual conduct or drug abuse aboard his plane. However, the gay conduct of these two young lovers IMMEDIATELY caused the Air Force to scramble 2 F16s to shadow the flight. Sure, AA now states they never requested assistance, but that's what I would say too if the cops showed up as a result of my call and the objects of my complaint were passed out, completely sated and stoned on crack, back in their assigned seats when the plane landed. Anyway what the hell were the F16s there for? Obviously they couldn't apprehend the young gay lovers at 40k, and they couldn't see into the windows of the jet as it was flying at 550 MPH, (oops, sorry...900 KPH for all you anal retentive Metric fans) so I think they were there just to make a point about their opposition to gay alternative lifestyles. Those jets would have NEVER BEEN SCRAMBLED had it been a hetrosexual couple smoking crack and having sex in the head.
The military has been opposed to the "don't ask- don't tell" policy since its inception by Bush Sr., and they take every opportunity to embarass people who happen to be gay in spite of this Presidential directive. American Airlines is obviously schmoozing to the Air Force in order to get a better contract to transport USO shows to Kabul, and I think the two young British lovers on crack have a damn good case for invasion of privacy and harassment against the Air Force. We will never have true equality until gay couples can smoke crack and engage in sexual acts on airliners just like hetrosexual couples do.

I... see...

I guess the question is, do we let everyone smoke crack and engage in sexual activity in flight, or do we crack down (no pun intended) on everyone? The latter, I would hope.

What have we got here... couple gay folks making 4 or 5 trips to the head together and, according to flight attendants, acting suspiciously.

Air force scrambles a pair of falcons to intercept/shadow after overhearing the captain of the AA bird ask to have local authorities meet the aircraft.

Elfenwolf start screaming sue the USAF.  Obviously a repressed supporter of the "alternative lifestyle".

I can't help but wonder, Elfenwolf, what you're basing your supposition that these 2 fellows have a case for invasion of privacy on.

Anyone got a tape of the radio transmission from this flight to AA operations?  The one the USAF happened to listen in on?  Did it say 2 guys smokin crack and having sex in the bathroom, or just a request to have local authorities meet the bird when it landed?

Hell I like the idea that they sent those falcons up to shadow that airliner.  For all anyone knew those 2 coulda been getting high to boister themselves to take off the aircraft, and thier sexual escapes were just a cover for them heading off in secret to try and pull it off.  Worst case (for them) they get busted for drugs and sex in an airliner bathroom, best case they get control of the bird and do God only knows what with it.

Obviously the captain of the American Airlines flight is homophobic, the flight attendants are homophobic, the two F-16 pilots are homophobic, the flight control supervisors who scrambled the f-16s are homophobic and I'm beginning to think some of you here on this BB are homophobic. Had it been a straight couple entering the restroom so often the flight attendants would have winked at each other and told the Captain to turn on the video monitor in the bathroom so those in the cockpit could watch the action.
The Air Force has NEVER scrambled jets due to straights having sex on airplanes, so I think it's obviously a clear cut case of gay bashing. And to add insult to injury they were forced to return to London the next day! What, there's no gay people in NYC?? Or no crackheads?? Why boot them out??? Hell, I've been to NYC and that place is FILLED with gay people and crack heads. Man, give me a break.
I hope they sue everybody involved in the violation of their civil rights from the busy-body flight attendants who told on them right down to the Airman First Class who gassed up the f-16s. I'm amazed at the lack of deductive logic skills so many of you here are showing on this issue.

Damn,

Elfenwolf you crack me up!

You're assuming that the sole reason the falcons were launched was because it was two homosexuals engaging in sexual congress in an aircraft lavatory.  And smoking crack.

Since you obviously have the radio call the USAF listened in on, and that prompted the scramble of the interceptors, please make it available for all of us to listen to.  Obviously it must be pretty strong evidence for you to be so stuck on this whole gay thing.

Apparently you missed my question, so allow me to repeat it:

Since you obviously have an unedited copy of the transmissions please answer this.

On the homophobic thing, quit trying to project your repression on others.  If that's your thing, you go right ahead and do it and be happy.

-

Odds are what happened was the USAF heard the pilot asking his company HQ to have local authorities meet his aircraft at the gate.  As soon as that was heard the order to scramble was given.  The falcons were probably in the air before it was all figured out and determined to be no real threat.  But they let them continue the intercept for 2 reasons.
1) Training purposes on running live intercepts.  Always a good thing.
2, and propably most important) Just to be absolutely sure that someone else wasn't about to try and pull a 9/11 on us again.  Or maybe, Elfenwolf, you'd like to see another airliner used in a kamikaze attack.  Was the death toll from 9/11 not high enough for you?

Sit down and shut up.

Last time I came home for Xmas, I hit water st with some friends and was buying JD & Cokes for 1.50 a pop.  How can you call a town like that a dump?!?  If I pay 4.50 out here, I drink extra just 'cause I'm getting such a good deal!

The booze rating is definitely very high, and you should think about that before casting out disparaging labels.  Shame on you. ;)

Jack Daniels for 1.50 a pop?? Personally I don't drink that rot gut, but I guess if you mix it with Coke it's not TOO bad.
Give me Crown Royal...or give me milk.
