Hmmm.  Putting politics aside, and any other excuses,..I do not see how anyone could not "see" that the Canadians simply outperformed the Russian pair.  Whether the Russion pair had an off day, or new program or whatever makes no difference, they were just outperformed.

If we are to let decisions stand that are obviously poor decisions with the excuse of "well, thats the way it is", then we will never be able to get it all cleaned up and judged properly.
Subjective events in any sport will always be plagued with problems with judging, but blatant obsurdities need to be corrected.

I do have some misgivings about how they corrected the problem.  Frankly, I think they should have had a skate-off after it was determined the judges were not quite being fair, but that is my opinion.

Coming in here and calling a country cry-babies, or putting a political spin on the problem is not going to solve anything and is not going to remove the problem that existed in this instance.

If you beleive the Russian pair skated better than the Canadian pair, please explain why.  I would really like to know as my opinion is quite the opposite.

"Russian Olympic Committee official Rudolf Nezvegsky told Reuters Rogge had given a clear signal that competition could be determined in the courtrooms, not the sports arena."

Are they implying that the judges judgement was judged?

I can't believe the Russians are pissed. Simple Olympic rules state that if there is evidence of fowl play with a judge, and there was in this case, that judges scores are thrown out, and the alternate judges scores will replace them. In this case the alternate judge scored the Canadians higher, so the gold goes to the Candians...... the Russians are lucky they got to keep their gold, and their winning streak alive. By the rules, the Russians should have got the silver.

Hey elfenwolf. Imagine if instead of Canadians it had been americans robbed of the gold. Your media (which also publicized this event to a great extent) would have had a field day. And the crying? Sheesh. Get off your high horse.

I watched the competition, and was highly pissed when the Canadian pair got lower scores then the Russians.  Not because they were Canadian, but because their performance was absolutely flawless.  Even the crowd was booing and hissing when the scores for the Canadians were posted.
After seeing that, was anyone really surprised that all this hoopla came about?
Strip the Russians of their medals, make them also-rans.

BTW Wasn't it me who earlier said many of the "fancy" French are just a bunch of ex-communist wannabe Russian/Soviet lapdogs? :D

Now there is a proof no ? ;)

Btw this "sport" (*) is screwed for a long long time it's not the end of this kind of scandal as it happened before and will continue to happend.

Just because the skating federation won't do anything to change the way judge work neither the way they are assigned...

Btw I cannot understand why a so flawed sport is still in the Olympic ...

Now this woundn't be the first example of French leaders colaborating with low lifes would it?

It was the head of the French Figure Skating Association that was the POS in this situation...He instructed her to vote for the USSR if she wanted to keep her job...In the aftermath of her confession, perhaps it was the only way anyone could put a stop to this type of corruption and I bet she had planned all along to "blow the whistle" if she had to compromise her integrity...Had she voted for Canada, she woulda been jobless after the olympics and nothing would have been heard of it and no changes or inquires into skating corruption. It took a lot of guts/integrity to inform the Olympic Skating Committy as she did and showed the world the class of the French people.(not including politicians or FFSA leaders)

BTW,it takes two to collaborate,I wonder what country's Figure skating head was talking with the French???..Have a good day Comrads!!!

Its sickening that Russians can still hold their gold medal. They should have been kicked out of the rank. Moreover, other squads performed better than them and deserve the silver/bronze medals. And what about the French judge?
