Georgia tries to outlaw violent games for kids

http://gamespot.com/gamespot/stories/news/0,10870,2847979,00.html

I like the way that it is brought up over and over about how 'studies' prove that video games make kids violent, but all the studies that have been done have in fact NOT proved that at all.  Obviously parents need to screen the content of what their kids do, watch, play, etc. but I find the way they make up study results infuriating.  On Good Morning America a while back they were talking about how 'of course' violent video games made kids violent.

People see that BS, they believe it, and they repeat it, and eventually they start to regulate what I can buy.  Grrr....

LOL, 35 years ago the coolest toy around was called Johnny 7 (not sure if the number is correct). It was 7(?) guns in one. We all played army and if we didn't have cool guns like Johnny 7 then we used a freakin stick. We used to see who could die the best!

Kids need to role play and experiment to learn and we need to quit trying to limit their options. Feeedom is good.

Even though I agree with you Kratzer, this bill won't restrict your ability to buy whatever you want (that is, assuming you're not a minor).

Four lawmakers in Georgia submitted a bill yesterday that would make it a criminal offense to sell or furnish violent interactive video games to minors.

The Surgeon General's report finds little connection between violent behavior and media violence.

I didn't think that this would directly affect me, Sandman (I don't live in Georgia anyway), but it is misinformation like this that results in overregulation, and ignorance which in the worst case, could lead to games being regarded as pornography, which results in it being a pain in the bellybutton for me to buy and play them.  Worst case scenario... I'm mainly just annoyed.
