Yes, but we fly off them.  They are also known as "carriers", but they only take a couple of bombs to sink.. just like a barge.

Naval supply convoys for NDISLES and the uterus would be cool for those isolated island fields... but barges???  I think we have a glitch in the universal translater, Uhura.  :D

The Japanese used barges extensively for resupply in the Pacific, especially in and around the Solomons and New Guinea.  Hunting them was a favorite pastime of US pilots.  Depending on the terrain, they might be an alternative to truck convoys.  Many sported light AA, so they would be more of a challange than the convoys.  Due to their slow speed, you'ld need to have more than one running between island bases, say 15 minutes apart.  The big convoys could take the place of trains, of course.

Trains, convoys, and barges

Trains, convoys, and barges are built into the terrain.  Each train, convoy, or barge has a source point and a destination point, and each can be damaged or destroyed while traveling from point to point.  The source point controls whether the train, convoy, or barge can run, i.e. a destroyed source point will not dispatch supplies.

The source point can be either a Depot or a Station.  A Depot is a field that can be captured and has a unique field number.  A Station is an object or a group of objects that are country owned and can be destroyed but not captured.  If a Depot has been captured, then the train, convoy, or barge will only resupply objects that are owned by the capturing country.  If 75% of a Station is destroyed, then the train, convoy, or barge becomes inoperable.

The destination point is where the train, convoy, or barge attempts to resupply.  The destination can be either a single field, or a number of objects within a defined radius.  If a destination field is captured while a train, convoy, or barge is enroute, the train, convoy, or barge continues to the destination, but will not resupply enemy countries.

Once a train, convoy, or barge has successfully reached it's destination, it simply respawns again after five minutes at the source point.

I saw some very strange things last night. As someone had reported seeing a train in the water I was expecting barges. I was rtb from a CV strike when I saw a distant dot (I thought) low upon the water. I took my Arado low to investigate, but whatever it was exploded. There was still a strange looking boat, or something, in the water. I didn't want to risk a 3-CV kill sortie, so I did not get close enough to properly ID it.

Was it a PT boat, or are there barges now?

I've only seen a train and that was in the Mindanao terrain. Hard to get a lot of visual detail buzzing it in an ME-262   :)   I've not seen any trucks or barges yet though.
I did notice that when the train reached it's destination it blew up. Same as cargo parachutes do when they land on a base to resupply. I imagine barges and convoys do too.
