Going down under
« on: February 23, 2002, 04:40:12 PM »
Looks like Swagger will be going down under for about 8-9 weeks.

Yea, the job is sending me to Austraila to do some instructing.

Will be in the Albury/Wodonga area.  Somewhere between Melbourn and Canberra, I think.

During May 3rd to about July 5th.

Any AHers in that area??

:)
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

You lucky bastard.  I was in Melbourne and Sydney on holiday about three years ago.  I loved it.  Too bad you are married, Ausie women love American men. ;)

Great county

Great beer

Awesome women

Any country whose 18-wheelers look like they are headed to a monster truck meet, is cool by me!

I was in Ballarat for a month, 60 miles away from Melbourne.

They do not have big cars there.  I know my friends were going ga-ga for our American sports cars.  I just wish I'd brought my motorcycle!

If you are bored during the day, watch the soaps, last I knew, they show it all!

And by all means, go to a zoo.  The wildlife there (kangaroos, etc) are amazing.  I expected lots of cages and such.  Nope.  They handed me 2 loaves of bread to feed the kangaroos when I got to that area.  I expected one or two.  Instead I was in a LARGE clearing and there were about 50 reds there.  What do you do when 50 roo's boing your way?

Found some pics from my trip....

Really sweet animals, reminded me of a large rabbit.  That docile.

Coca Cola:  The preferred drink of kangaroos

See?  No cages, no nothing....they were EVERYWHERE.

This baby one kept following me around.  Follow the funny looking American with all the food!

I live in Adelaide(capital of the next state over) if you have time to travel. I'd be happy to catch up if its possible.

2nd and 3rd of March I'll be in Bendigo for a wedding. (Bendigo is a couple hundred km N of Melbourne). Not sure how close to Albury that is.

Cheers,
Gavor
