When you aproach an enemy field and get into ack range you are well aware of the danger and you are risking your plane on purpose, with the hvy ack things are very different.


erm.....  [ok I'll be nice and won't say it]

The tracer ratio for the guns on the fighters and buffs is 1 in 5.  For every round you can see (tracer) there are 4 more that you can not see.  What makes you think the ack is any different?

Wotan you're just being assinine saying the current acks help game play because they prevent vulching through live acks.  They don't prevent squat and you know it.  Now while this is a game, the current acks are past gamey and go deep into the territory of the cheesiest lameness imaginable.  Set up a mission, people ask what it's for, it's a JABO run to take down a field for capture.  No thanks, I'm not gonna suicide on the those acks, call me when a buff takes them down.  How does that help gameplay?

In any case, IMO, anything AI controled that is able to kill a player fun with a SINGLE ping (hvy or medium ack) should be deleted from the game just as a playability concession, specially when people are not getting into ack range on purpose (hvy ack).

When I pay for AH I pay to play against other people, not against some lame bellybutton AI with a Mrs. Cleo complex.

AI acks should be SINGLE .50 cal or quad .303, not 20mm or 37mm. Let the big barrels be player-manned only.

That it would make field captures easier? Well, put MORE acks instead. If there was a quad .303 AI battery option and you could put 30 to 40 of them on each field, I can assure you it will be VERY hard for anyone to go in and strafe them out without getting serious damage. Not to mention that having MORE gun positions means there are more guns that can independently track targets AND more gun positions to take out.

But this crap we have now of large caliber guns with insane accuracy for planes flying at high speeds BUT missing 200mph fighters AND bombers flying at 4k is just WRONG.

AI ? no such thing. A blind man with 9 fingers missing using a TBM can strafe all the aa down now, give him a IL2 and the big bases fall with him missing only 8 fingers. Only thing about aa i don't like is that when you do a low level 450mph pass 40 inches from a aa gun it hits you everytime in the buttocks just as you pass, attack the same gun head on at 40 mph flippin your nose around a bit and it can't hit ya even if you're flying  the goodyear blimp.

Seems fine to me, BUT!  I think it would be much more realistic or fun (take your pick) if say the ack we have would be more accurate but less damaging 'til a certain point.  Not sure if that made sense.

Right now a fast mover can go in and kill ack but then there's that magic ping thats rips a wing or kills your engine then game over no immersion just another frustrating single ping wonder kill.  Maybe beef up the number of ack make them more accurate but less damaging.  Can you imagine the pucker factor as you are making straffing runs and all you hear is as you pass by?  You will be saying to yourself 'self do you really want to that again?'  Of course if you continue those hits will eventually add up and THEN kill the engine, pilot or rip a wing off.
