SALUTE & Thanks to the AK's !!!
« on: October 30, 2001, 09:48:00 AM »
First let me set the stage.

Last night, after HT reset us to the beautifully retrofitted Baltic terrain (wipes lips  :) )...Bishops 67, Knights 84, Rooks 52.

A43 got SLAMMED!
Apparently the Arabian Knights had launched a strong mission against it and with them came nearly the entire Knight Air Force.

Feeling V E R Y frustrated once again at the 4/1 beating that we were receiving, I got on private chan. to an AK member who I have come to trust and respect.
I was (as usual) a bit harsh in my first contact because of my extreme frustration.
We chatted about how overwhelming and unfair it is to consistently be pounded on.  I also pointed out that the weak side (or so it seems) is always attacked the hardest.

In the following mission, the Arabian Knights apparently took this into consideration and moved their attacks to another location. Perhaps against the Bishops?
This left the Rook/Knight front near A44 at nearly even numbers and gave us a fighting chance. Or at the least, a chance to get airborne.  :)

For this action, I salute the Arabian Knights and offer a heart felt THANK YOU!!!

Voss said something last night that I think is VERY true.
(Not exact wording) It doesn't matter if you win or lose. What is important is that you get to fly.

When the odds are 2/1 you may lose, but you can still fly. When the odds are 4/1, you don't stand a chance in hell of getting off the runway more than once, and you won't have runways for very long.

Thanks Again to the Gentlemen of the Arabian Knights!

When I was online I needed to re-supply 41 and 42 'cause your bombers destroyed them. That time 41 and 42 were suffering 'cause there were not too much action in Bish/Rook border when they both attacked against Knights.
Anyway there were nice big dogfights over Gulf of Finland, between Finland and Estonia.

I thought you didn't like those "self fulfilling" squads like the AKs that rotate monthly...

Zygote, I know it sucks...it happens quite often due to the large squads that feel the need to jump from country to country each tour.
And since they are self fulfilling, they leave the rest of us in the lerch and think it's OK.

Kinda sucks!

SOB

I don't.
I understand their thinking, but I don't like the way the results leave the "Country Loyal" squads and individuals hanging.

I think there is another way they can move around and meet new people. I have suggested it before, but it was met with selfish skepticsm.
My suggestion was for the CO's of the "Mover" squads to coordinate their moves such that they help minimize the overloads.

The intention of my post in this thread was to demonstrate my respect for the Gents of the AK Squad and to show that they deserve seperation from the statement you quoted me on.  :)
Thank you for pointing that out.

On the issue of coordinated Squad Moves:  Could I help with this idea?
I would be willing to be the point man between large squadrons in an effort to ballance the loads.
If interested, email me at skyviper54@yahoo.com

Sincerely,
Viper

Squads switching sides never bothered me cause I switch sides all the time. I like to move around so I get to fly with/against as many people as I can.

Right now I fly for Rook because they seem to be the underdogs when I get on.

P.S. The AK's are all weenies anyway!  :p
I have been reborn a new man!

And was 43 held or lost because of the AK's giving up on it and moving on to another target?

S!

I am fully aware the problems posed by toejamty odds.  Believe me the AK's have been on the short end of that stick like everyone else.  I am also aware than when we have 15 members on, we can wreak quite a bit of havoc.  I can assure you there we quite often have discussions about which side is getting hit harder, and try to spread out the carnage as much as possible.  This is not always the case, but we do often take things like this into consideration.

As far as country rotating goes, just drop it.  We are aware that some of you dont like it, but frankly we dont care.  This is our best opportunity to fly with the greatest variety of pilots.  Is it opssible to get to know pilots of another country?  Sure.  Is it possible to do missions with them, have them on RW and get a better feeling for what kind of person they are in so far as recruiting goes?  Absolutely not.  This is the reason we have, and always will, rotate countries.

We are looking forward to our tour with the Rooks next month, despite the ravaging we take from you guys on open comms about gang banging  :D

Don't flatter yourself.

We simply completed that base capture looked on the map and went after the next target that made the most strategic sense.

Whether that made you happy, sad, or somewhere in between carries absolutely no weight in our decision. Nor will it ever.

Oh, and genius, anyone who has ever studied military science will tell you the overriding principle is to apply your strength against the enemies weakness, not your strength against his strength.  Crack open a book and read a little Sun Tzu.

I don’t think you were harsh on channel 1 last night.  I just think you acted like an ass.

Nice of you guys to take the Salute in such a positive stride.

BTW "Genius" the conversation "as I stated above" that was "harsh" was on private, not chan. 1. Perhaps in stead of War, you should've studied English.

And I have read a good bit on strategy and military tactics. Obviously we don't all understand things the same.

I'm starting to feel a bit sorry that I even tried to show you any respect.

You were whining on chan 1 as well.  At least until I squelched your irrelevant ass.

What needs to be understood is very simple.  The AK's (as well as any other squad) participate in Aces High because they enjoy the sim, because the enjoy each other, and because they enjoying flying with each other in the sim.  The purpose of our squad is not to make sure the teams are even, not to make sure the bishops arent getting ganged up on.  The purpose of our squad is to do that which brings pleasure to our squad.

I did not take your S! in the wrong manner.  I appreciated it.  But, you have to understand what I said in this post, and respect that.  Respect that not only from the AK's, but all squads that have a large representation.  We fly as a squad to enjoy the sim as a squad.  Sometimes that involves attacking teams with lesser numbers, sometimes it does not.  Nothing anyone here says about the way we "should fly" or lack of "sense of fairness" will have any bearing on the way we fly.

See you in the skies   :p

I can't understand why wab and nimitz didn't take "<S> to the AKs for deciding what to do based purely on my high level of squeaking and moaning and overall complaining!"

Wow... what a great precidence to set.  If you want a squad to do what you want, just complain really really loud.

My guess would be that they found it too boring competing for a vulch kill, or it was seriously cutting into their kills/sortie/round fired stats.  In an ultimate quest for more perk points, they went to more of a target rich environment.  One where the targets were somewhat immune to dweebery and were only downed by experience.

Nah... musta just been because you were whining.

(any others i forgot you)
BUttttt. maybe u should witch sides???? tonight we are hitting bish with only like 15 guys taking bases and the rest fightint at 43 etc etc.... u have many topics that u post about who its "unfair" that u get raped by knights.. personly is sounds like a person problem and should be delt with offline. i dont see why u have to bring it on the forums.. what is it going to do? make the knights let off some? LOL. and by the way. think of this as a war. u dont "let off" a country becuase ur are blowing them to peices.... i have never seen a country let off another because they are whinning of defeat 24/7. knights are the power. bish are 2nd and rooks are last. to fix this work together. or switch a team. (mabye u should come to the knights for one day and see whats its really like in the home land)
