Instead of some guy self appointing himself team admiral for the day, you know the ones - they direct a carrier to do what they want then dont release command.

I propose:

(1) The carrier commander should assume a perk point risk for being in command (and a heavy one)

(2) To remain in command of the carrier, the person has to sit and ride on the ship.

Your number point I have suggested before. It would be a great idea...........

But it would then make sense to have the guy risking his perks be able to stop any plane from upping with out him allowing them to. This way he could get the cv in position without somebody uppin and giving away its position.

As for locking them onboard while in command I dont think that would be good. However it would be in the cv commanders best interest to stay near and cap his fleet or lose the perks.

However if a guy points the cv into danger then gives up command to save his perks would be the norm unless if the fleet is sunk the guy who last commanded it would be the one to lose his perks.........

But the real problem with cvs are the kamikazee p47/p38s who fly there bombs into the cv with not even trying to survive. Then add the laser accurate sites on the bombers.

CVs are only good for defending there home port. It never fails some admiral sends his fleet 3 sectors away on a crusade to have hios port captured and fleet sunk.

I dont fly carrier planes so I really dont care........... CVs are generally useless accept as an ack platform

Point being, no one person should be able to take control of, and retain command of, of such an asset without personal risk.  Most guys are cool, they point the group, then release.  Not everyone is cool, should at least be a time limit on it.  

There are guys, in this age of broadband, that arent even playing the game but still stay logged in to lock out the carrier (I guess they have a master plan or something?).  That's just not right.

Sure, some guys have nothing else to do but lookin at that CV, while they could kill planes with a red Icon... I don't buy it, sorry.

Actually isnt the Command option made for that? And of course that if I intend to do something with the carries and I plot its route then I dont release the command because I want it to perform the way I want and I dont want any freakin' newbie to play with my toy! For my defense I have to say that I don't kidnap carrier groups too often, because Im not a sailor. The only situation I do that is when Im runing low on gas and I need to rearm and refuel my Yak, P-51, Typhoon, Tempest or P-38 friendly airfield is out of range and there is only friendly CV nearby... Well then I take the command and make it my mobile gas station... after landing rearming refueling and takeoff I release the CV and its free again for anyone to play with.  What drives me nuts is that when landing on CV some smartass starts to turn it... Thats why I take command before landing and release it after takeoff...

Advice: If you want to toy with CVs then only thing you have to do is have the highest rank and noone is going to steal your ships from you...

Well, we (squad... VF-27) fly from the carriers as a rule, and stay fairly close to it. Anytime it looks like our "home" is going to be attacked, we set up a cap and intercept the attackers, because if we lose that cv, we usually lose a place to land due to fuel/distance concerns, not to mention the damper it puts on squad activity, lol. Yes, we take command of one cv while flying during squad nights, because we are tired of people putting those "ack platforms" on the beach and getting them sunk! We do everything we can to preserve it, and obviously anyone who wants to fly from it can. Before anyone gripes about us keeping command for a couple hours, two nights a week, please think about the fact that those cv's are vital to our squad operations, and we DO at least try hard to take care of it. Besides, we only take one, there are always more for the "ack" guys to play with. Imagine needing to rtb with low fuel or damage only to find the cv is not where you left it, or even worse, gone entirely! I do get irritated when people take command and just wander off, paying no attention to what's happening to the cv... usually it just gets sunk. Oh well, just my thoughts on all this cv stuff, flame me all ya want, I'll still feel the same way about it, lol!

Heck if you are going to use it fine.  An example of what I am talking about is from last night - a guy simply looped the group right at the port keeping it out of action for hours.  It just got the port captured and the easy to find ships in enemy hands in the shortest possible amount of time (perhaps working for the other side then?).

I agree with all your points Honcho. I always felt the person taking controll of a the CV had best be either driving it or flying from it. If they leave the "Grid" the CV is in they should automatically lose contorl of it.
 That still would not fix the problem 100 % as some folks would grab it, sit in the tower and leave to go eat dinner or catch a tv show.

 Then again an player "idle timer"  could solve that issue too!

the cv takes an hour to go 1 sector so if you up and then rtb and "its not where you left it" then try using the map:rolleyes:

Fact is you want to control the cv then put up the perks (gv perks would work here)

My guys if and when then want a cv usually rank rather high so we just take it. We dont care who is using it.

Honcho's idea is a good you want the cv cough up the perks and be forced to defend it 10-15 perks would workl.

YES!!!!!!! Thats what I thought of when I first saw this post and how great to see the screen shot! wtg
