Rally Trophy - Whoo hoo!
« on: February 28, 2002, 10:34:05 AM »
It took the store an extra week to get it, but it was well worth the wait!  Best driving game I've played so far - the graphics are outstanding, and the physics are far better than in other rally games I've played...

And all the cars pre-date 1975!

I've been driving the Lancia Fulvia - I tried some of the rear wheel drive cars, but I just end up spinning around at every corner... front wheel drive rocks though!

The cockpit is really well done, so you can actually play in that view, the sounds are all recordings of the actual vehicles.  The replays are almost as much fun as driving the stages - the driver and co-driver get bounced around by rough terrain and turns, the suspensions behave perfectly.  I played till way past my bedtime last night. :)

There is a demo, a movie, and a patch:

I had some controller issues with both the demo and the full game, but the patch seems to have cleared them up.

I tried installing that demo on a couple of PC's a whole back and each time I clicked on the INSTALL button that came up nothing happens. I've been wanting to try this out but since the problem I had above I never pursued it.  I owned a 69 Peugeot 404 once and that was a nice Rally car in it's day - by the pro's of course, not me :)

I'll try again. I'd like to see how it runs and looks.

Yeah, I think the demo had several issues.  Hell, for $29, it's a steal.

Heh I've been running full version of Rally Trophy for a coupla months.

If you have any questions just shoot.

BTW the Fulvia in RT is more common than spits in AH

Common, schmommon!  I like it... and I'm only racing the computer anyway.

Tips on trying out some of the rear-wheel drive cars?

My only disappointment with the game is that the courses seem way too short, I want endurance racing is it available in the game if so how long can you make the races.

Use the force -- but be gentle. And turn the steering sensitivity down a bit. That's about all I can say :D.

It took me a while but eventually I was able to master both the Escort and the Stratos. As a controller I used my trusty TM PFCS and it proved to be surprisingly well suited to driving (or maybe I'm just weird).

So just be easy on the controls and practice, practice :)

Yeah, that is my complaint with most rally games - short stages. :(
