HTC: An honest bribe
« on: March 02, 2002, 08:41:19 PM »
!

I am prepared to offer the following: Alcoholic Beverage

For the following: Reggiane Re 2005

Well, either that or the Fiat G55.

Pros:

- It's good! But not too good!
- To my knowledge, you'd be the first to model it in an online sim
- It's a great BnZ'er for Italian AC enthusiasts
- It would diversify the arena even more
- It saw combat in Italian and German squadrons
- It's slightly less ugly than the 202/205

Cons:

- Not many were produced
- It's only slightly less ugly than the 202/205

Personally, I can see people griping about how this or that country needs more attention, but they're not offering a bribe!

The page I linked to has some nice pictures plus cockpit photos.

I like it. But prolly as a perk. 421 mph max speed at 6000ft? with 3 20mm's + 2 12.7's?

Thats like an La7.. almost. Wonder if it turns well :)

Looks like a pretty nasty arena aircraft.  It would certainly get used.

Actually, Evildingo, you left out the best reason for including it in the planeset.
It will carry 2,200 pounds of bombs.  None of the current Axis planes (as modeled in AH) will carry that loadout.

Actually Curly, from that page it looks like it can carry more. 2200 lbs or Drop Tank under fuselage + 2 hardpoints for either 2 smaller drop tanks or 2 353 lbs bomb. Would give it a bomb load 2906 lbs, that's enough for a hanger :)

ADD IT!

Uhmmm, just read the history about it...

The Reggiane had good behaviour in close dogfight and , according to General Minguzzi, who flew both Re 2005 and Spitfire, was even better than the Spit in tight turns and handling.

Here sissyfires here! :D

Two main reasons:
1. Add it and you can do "IX '39" scenario! (1st time ever i bet)
2. StSatan 'll have another "extreme" plane to fly in ;) noone can tell that's uber
...need to add another one...
You 'll see all 308th in it at squad night and you 'll see me ONLY in it :)

thank you

HEY! HEY YOU! Get your own bribe thread! This is for the Re 2005! :)

Tac, you mentioned it's high speed at ground level. That's very true, but look at it's speed at 13k. 351mph! It loses 80 mph top speed in only a few k of altitude. Though, I'm not arguing it would be one mean aircraft in the MA.

I don't know about perking it on performance alone. It's quite fast, but doesn't exceed any of the exisiting non-perked aircraft.

My rough (and probably mostly incorrect) etimate was that it climbed at around 4000fpm. So it likely had excellent acceleration too!

Edit: Upon closer inspection of my hideous math skills, it's climb was likely closer to 3000fpm.

"6,560 ft / 2,000 m: 421 mph / 678 kph
13,120 ft / 4,000 m: 351 mph / 565 kph
22,800 ft / 6,950 m: 421 mph / 678 kph
22,965 ft / 7,000 m: 421 mph / 678 kph"

and at 22k its back to 421 (unless its a typo).
