Make sure your V-Sync is ON, or you'll have a potential gunnery problems, also, "up tight and in the sight" works too. Get within D300 before opening up.  I seem to practice the "uptight" in the CT, but find myself spraying in the MA since you're always worried about the 10 other diving in on you while you're enjoying a nice 1 vs 1 down at a lower alt.

Rip, While you are doing that I thought I would give my "potential" reason for this, as prior to going away in late January I was kickin bellybutton and taking names.  Now I can't hit anything.

When I returned after the January trip my internet connection was down.  I have recently been given another one, but I think that it is not as good from the IP to the net - I have a dialup to the IP.

Yesterday I was shooting at guys who would suddenly disappear...I think I have like 2 assists for about 15 missions.  I am gonna screw up our squad stats single-handedly!
Swoop was trying to help me out on some issues that I thought it might be....but after testing all weekend I learned that what we were discussing is not the problem.

Sprint... I want to clarify what you said a bit. Yes, you want to leave V-Synch turned on for playing the  game. The only reason to disable v-synch would be if you were benchmarking video cards, then you would  want to disable v-synch so that the fps counter would not be limited by your monitor's refresh rate. If you  do this, be sure to enable V-synch again to avoid issues such as the dreaded "rubber bullets" syndrome. As                            Sprint mentions, if v-synch is disabled, you are not going to be seeing every frame the video card draws, and that can lead to gunnery problems.[/b]

Curval, if you have not messed with your default video card standards, I believe they ship with Video Sync ON, so I doubt that is your problem.

vsync is vertical sync. On, it means your video card is locked to the refresh rate (vertical sync rate) of your monitor. With vsync on, your frame rate will never exceed your monitor refresh rate.

The monitor refresh rate is the frequency at which your monitor screen is redrawn (refreshed) and is measured in hertz not megahertz. One hertz is one cycle per second. The higher you can set the refresh rate on your monitor the better. Be careful though, older monitors that don't support high refresh rates may freak out if you choose a rate that is unsupported.

There is a utility (nvmax?) that will allow you to set different refresh rates for different resolutions. Be sure to set the appropriate rate for the resolution you use in AH.

Well I can't find out where to determine V-Sync status...but I doubt that is it as you think, Rip.  I haven't changed anything.

AKIron, thanks...my monitor is pretty old...I'll check it out...won't hurt to improve even if it doesn't solve the issue.

Curval,

With the GeForce drivers, v-sync is usually disabled as it results in better benchmarks and makes the nvidia drivers seem faster.

Get the GTU (GeForce Tweak Utililty) from:

http://guru3d.com/geforcetweakutility/

to enable v-sync.

This of course assumes you have a GeForce.  :)

Furious..

I have YET to find any drivers for ANY nVidia card with MS certified drivers that have v-sync disabled by default.

in fact drivers don't meet their certification if v-sync is controllable(D3D) by the user.  So they all come with v-sync enabled.

Install a tweaker, don't touch anything, and see what the default is... enabled.

I do have GeForce....but I can tell you that I hate these tweak programs.  I am not a techie at all and whenever someone recommends a "tweak" they usually follow it by saying "be careful using this because if you aren't you can really screw up your computer".

Not so, in this cae, which is nice...I assume this utility will allow me to check to see whether the V-Sync is enabled and that is all I wanna do at this point...I won't change a thing.

I have downloaded the tweak and will put it on my machine tonight.  I WILL be very careful...and I'll pray my computer still works tomorrow.

One more quick point. You can set vsync independently for both Direct3D and OpenGL. Since AH uses only Direct3D it is the only one that will have an effect on AH.
