From what I have picked up over the net, the debug level in your directsound is something left over from the development cycle, and may just simply casue sound to use a few more resources.

Perhaps someone else can shed more detail on this...

Other than that Modas I don't know what to tell you...

In reading the dxdiag, I noticed this...

--------------------
DirectX Debug Levels
--------------------
Direct3D:    0/4 (n/a)
DirectDraw:  0/4 (retail)
DirectInput: 0/5 (n/a)
DirectMusic: 0/5 (n/a)
DirectPlay:  0/9 (retail)
DirectSound: 2/5 (retail)

Reducing the debug level above may help if you encounter any issues sound related.  To do this though you need the DirectX control Applet..

Your USB is sharing with your modem as well, which is not as big a deal depending on how you are connecting to AH.  Are you using broadband (network card) or using your modem to dial up AH?

Now as for nVidia driver versions, for that card on Win98 I would try the 7.78's, I have had good luck with those for TnT/GeForce level cards.  If that doesn't work, give the 14.10's a shot.  The later model drivers seem to only work well with GeForce 2 or later cards in my experience, so the problems you are having with the 2x.xx line of Detonators is not unexpected.

I've rearranged some things and got the major componets (sound and video)on their own IRQ with the exception of some IRQ holder for PCI Steering (whatever that is).  The USB and modem still are on the same IRQ. I was able to free up IRQ's 4 and 9.  Is there a way to "force" either the USB or the modem to use one of these IRQ's?

I did fly offline and was able to fly without dumping, so hopefully the problem is fixed.  I would like to get the USB on its own IRQ if at all possible.  Any suggestions on how to do this?  I tried moving the modem to a different PCI slot like I did w/ the network card, but no luck.

Thanks for the help  :D
