I did download AH a while ago but couldnt get it to work due to some PC problem i have. I am getting a new PC very soon and going to do another try. BTW I am writing this from work.

I know the following questions is probably very obvious to you guys but after following the MB for while i still like to ask:

1. When flying AH do most people fly in Advanced Mode?
2. Is that the same as advanced mode in FA2?
3. Is there anything like Arcade and Intermediate mode in AH?
4. What is the difference in the viewing system i hear so much about compared to FA?
5. In general is there a difference in the plane physics between AH and FA?
6. What is a resonable PC spec for AH?
7. Are you guys using Roger Wilco?
8. Do AH have similar Territorial Combat concept as FA?

I know most of you do not like FA and i am not interested in your thought about how bad FA is or how good AH is. I actually want to find out myself. I do think however appreciate the "extra" features AH over FA.

Rgrds

I wanna answer first!

1. There is no other mode. Fly properly or go play FA3.
2. It's WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY more advanced. Prepare to actually spend some time learning how to fly a plane.
3. See above.
4. The best way to explain it is, have a look for yourself. Its very free, easy and intuitive to use. Padlock mode(which is odnt ue anyway) won't track targets that go out of your sight(ie under the fuselage). I'm sure someone will post more detail.
5. Very much so. While plane physics will probably never be perfect in any game, the planes here are very true to life. I've not played much FA, but the models there strike me as quite unrealistic.
6. Check the webpage.
7. I have in the past, at the moment I use teamspeak or teamsound. Sometimes I still use RW.
8. Can't remember what that was. Sound similar to what AH uses, someone will clarify for me :).

I'll not comment on one game or the other, make up your own mind as its YOU who has to be happy.

Okay... it's not a troll... My apologies... I'll try to answer some of the questions not answered below by SOB.

2. Is that the same as advanced mode in FA2?

No... it feels different... if that's the right description. I've found that gunnery is more difficult in AH. Gravity seems to play a bigger factor in the way the bullets fly. Also, you'll find that the ranges are a bit different. I believe FA has most guns set at approximately 1800 yards and then each aicraft is modified accordingly. I'm not sure where AH guns are. I typically don't shoot at anything beyond 700. Also.. some aircraft in AH have particularly vicious stall characteristics.

4. What is the difference in the viewing system i hear so much about compared to FA?

No padlock. No external views of fighters. Limited icons compared to FA.

5. In general is there a difference in the plane physics between AH and FA?

Absolutely... but you'll find general similarities. LA-7s are fast, Hispanos wreck a lot of furniture, etc...

6. What is a resonable PC spec for AH?

I'm running a 750 Athlon and a 64MB Kyro Prophet. Works fine.

7. Are you guys using Roger Wilco?

Is anyone not?

8. Do AH have similar Territorial Combat concept as FA?

No similarity. Only three sides here and everyone can fly everything. So, you can find NiK-2 flying along side P-51 and don't be suprised to see similar aircraft fighting against similar aircraft. You'll also find that the strat system for AH is probably a bit more complicated than that used on FA (if there is such a thing at all). I seem to recall that there was.

Oh... and the bombers have NO AI gunners here. You'll have to man them yourself or get someone to ride along with you. You won't find B17's doing gunstar missions over fields.

You'll also find that the bombers here are more limited in capability on the ground than those in FA.

1. When flying AH do most people fly in Advanced Mode?

There really isn't any "easy mode" in AH.  You can use Combat Trim which automatically trims your plane for you according to predetermined settings for different speeds, but you'd be better off flying without it, IMO.  For me it did nothing but degrade my flying.  Another feature that can make things easier is auto-takeoff.

2. Is that the same as advanced mode in FA2?

Never flown FA2

3. Is there anything like Arcade and Intermediate mode in AH?

The closest thing would be the training arena.  It has unlimited ammo and the planes absorb more damage.  Another possibility is to check out the H2H arenas set up by players.  He who sets up the arena determines the settings for that arena (damage, ammo, etc)...the physics of how the airplanes perform, however, are a constant in the AH.

4. What is the difference in the viewing system i hear so much about compared to FA?

Aside from the being able to look in every direction imaginable with the number pad combos, you can also move your pilot's head around in the cockpit to see around cockpit rails, headrest, etc.  Don't know how this compares to FA2.

5. In general is there a difference in the plane physics between AH and FA?

Almost certainly, as they were made by different companies.  As I said tho', I've never flown FA2.

6. What is a resonable PC spec for AH?

Your first concern should be your video card.  Geforce 2 or better should do it.  High end Pentium II would work fine with a decent video card, and a PIII would be better.

7. Are you guys using Roger Wilco?

Yep, it's even integrated into AH, so you can tune to radio channels using the in-game text buffer.

8. Do AH have similar Territorial Combat concept as FA?

Not sure what ya mean.  In the MA here, there are 3 sides, all of which start out on equal footing.  The way to "win" is to take all of another country's bases.  When one country is finished, the country with the most bases remaining wins.

Good luck, I hope you enjoy it.  If you need any help and you see me online, feel free to annoy me.  :)
