Help !!!!
« on: March 06, 2002, 07:23:18 AM »
Have built my fisrt map, which BenDover flew on last night.
Having a problem with some bases as far as base capture.

Yes, I have at least 2 bases per country. BenDover pointed that out and I fixed it.

Some bases capture with no problem, others the goons run around like they are lost.

Kinda off that subject, more input than anything....
Found ALOT of entry points not setup right in the Group object files that came with the TE.
Do these get tested and proofed before making them part of the TE ?

Hello Hawk52

How did you get the goons there?
Were they dropped from a C47 transport plane or by ground vehicle?
How far away from the Maproom did you drop them off?
Anything more than ( approx 1 mile raduis ) from the maproom they will not capture the field.
Also do you know which type of ( Group type ) fields they were?
Some fields may give you problems due to the complete Maproom group not set properly.
The complete maproom group has 2 parts
The MAPTBL1 shape placed is set as "Maproom" (MPR)
The MPRM1 shape placed is set as "Void" (VOD)
AFFwd-1, AFLrg-1 and AFMed-1 have their MPRM1 shapes set as "Maprooms" (MPR), they don't have the MAPTBL1 shape.
I'm assuming that the Object checker doesn't care about the shape as long as there's a MPR thats why it show no maproom errors.
Using fields with these problems could affect field captures.

You won't have any problems with the following fields and any of the things that seem wrong I don't think would have caused any game problems.

AFLrg-S  OK
AFMed-S  OK
AFSml-S   OK but (the only thing with this group is the far south hanger.  It is made up of 3 items ( FTE0, FTH0, VOD0 ).  Delete the VOD0)
VFMed-S  OK
CVTG1  OK but requires a maproom group.
lgfld2  OK but requires a fldcap1 or maproom group
medfld2  OK but requires a fldcap1 or maproom group
smfld  OK but requires a fldcap1 or maproom group
fldcap1  OK
cdepot  OK
port  OK  but
portL2  OK but
portR2  OK but
To me the port shape is sort of flawd.  If set to "can collide" it then can be destroyed.  If "can collide" is not set PT boats can pass thru the dock.  Problems with it even if set as runway or bombable.  The ownly way I can see is to set the Hardness way up.  I'll be asking HiTech for help.

FTAck-S  OK  but the "factdrt" shape is set as Field owned
FTAmo-S  OK  but the "factdrt" shape is set as Field owned
FTBar-S  OK  but the "factdrt" shape is set as Field owned
FTOil-S  OK  but the "oildirt" shape is set as Field owned
FTRdr-S  OK
StHdq-S OK  but the "city" shape is set as Field owned
StCty-S  OK
Station1  OK

The other fields like AFDbl-1, AFFwd-1, AFLrg-1, AFMed-1, AFSml-1, drtfield, VFMed-1 have problem with them but can be easily fixed.

P.S I'm not guaranteeing that I'm correct with all this.

Thanks Pokie for the info. Hopefully I'll be able to fix this problem.
Only have to check about 45 bases :(  and issue an up date to the map.

Just make corrections to the problem field groups and then save them.  You don't need to make correction to all fields one at a time, just select the fields that are the problems and delete them and replace with the fixed field group version.

Base capture with the current AH version is a KNOWN bug. Maps made in the current editor and with the current version of AH will result in uncapturable fields. Problem is said to be solved in the next version.

This is also mentioned in some earlier thread on this forum.

Posted a new version for my H2H players with the fixes.

Thanks for all ur help, I'm sure I'll have more questions as I get more into it.

Just FYI..the map is made up of 2 major islands, 2 medium islands and 4 smaller ones. With 30 bases per country (intended 2 cty)
toal of 60 bases (icl. depots and ports) 3 CV groups per country.

Played with a room full today, all day..no more problems  :D

Thanks again for all ur help
