Anyone else have this problem?
« on: March 08, 2002, 03:54:00 PM »
I need help! For some reason my usually okay skill has been suffering. I'm not great, never have been, but lately I can't seem to do ANYTHING right except die! I'm not new, been playing off and on for about a year and a half now... and it seems I used to be better than I am now. Could this be simple AH burnout? Has anyone else experienced this... it seems no matter what I do, I just keep getting worse and it's starting to really get depressing, lol! Anyone have any ideas that might help?

I had the same problem few months ago... sometimes have "crappy MA nights" as well.  while it happening i simply can't hit anything... except ground :) can't outturn C47 in me trust Yak, can't outrun zeke in a tempest... to say it honest - i suck big time. the reason is - code of this great game is simply against me! i'm sure of it ;) still remember the night when i was uppin' at some field with GTR. after and half of hour he had about 30kills (if not more) and i died 30 times (if not more as well)... i was trying ANY plane at thet time to cross this badluck line... i lost the battle. after a 30mins of throwing a lot unnecesarry words all over my place and horrible verbal fight with my honey ("tsssst honey. i'm trying to watch TV" she said...) i logoff without a simgle kill.
at the next day i got 20 kills and was killed only once... badluck gone :D

i bet it happeneds to all of us sometimes (no matters if it's for hours, days, weeks or months). Someday you logon and you 'll see that it's gone!

ma advice - you need a change. try to change plane you flying in. way you fly.. if you are E fighter, try to DF :D
and the most importand - HAVE FUN here! if you feel that you are winning "the greatest sucker of arena" award, find me here. i'll show ya how i'm winning this award ;)

and good luck!

Yep! It happens all the time.

I know it feels weird to one day to be Ace and another day just dying.

When you have a bad day you'd better NOT take a 262...:D

Yep it definately happens. Ive been playing on and off since beta and every time it happens to me I take one of the worst planes in the game up for a few sorts. After flying a 109 g2 for a few sorties the pony is a breeze to kill in:D .

When AH becomes a drag, i take a few months off, when a new release appears.. well i come on out to play

Mebbe i play AH to escape from the drag that life can be at times, and when AH doesn't help matters i go back to life +)

Well, it's good to know I'm not the only one this has happened to. Thanks for the input guys ! I think I'll try a bit of all of your suggestions, and see what happens. Maybe I'll take a short break, get drunk, wish I HAD the perkies for a 262 (lmao), actually show up for my squad's optional training times, and then start flying the "dweeb" rides... haven't flown a nik in a long while, and can't recall ever upping the LA-7. My favorite birds are the kitty (fly 'em with my squad... wingie's are always a big help!) and the 190 A5, the A5 and it's 4 20mm's was responsible for my only kill recently. Hmmm... now that I think about it... one of the main reasons I signed on to AH was to fly the most beautiful plane in existence: the corsairs! I do believe it's time to burn some perkies. I'll see ya up, and hopefully in the sights of those 4 death ray 20mm's, lol!

Wildblue,
Ive seen you online many times and it never occured to me that you suck.
I think a big part of what you may be talking about isn't that you are getting worse, it's that lots of folks have gotten very good since you or I started.  The odds are, (IMO) that 1 out of 2 players that you may run into in this game are going to give you one heck of a fight.  If you lose sight, make a mistake, or get yourself outnumbered, your going to die.

I do have a few recomendations though.
* Don't try too hard, just do what sounds like fun.
* Do base defense whenever possible.  It's a good chance for quick drilling and practice of your skills.
* Join or start vulches.  It helps your gunnery and can be a blast.
* Don't look at your score.
