Watched it w/ my  roommate last night.  Unbelievable!  S! To those 2 french dudes.  They captured history first hand from the hero's perspective.  Did any body notice how much irony there was in the program?  I thought it was chilling...

S! to FDNY!

Still disturbed by the whole event.  I spent time reading with my kids last night...maybe in a year I'd be able to stomach it.

I have to add that this was the best TV show on the regular networks that I've seen in 20 years.  I don't think it was too soon,  it was a good reminder of why we are where we are today 6 months later.   Seeing those firefighters do their job in the midst of all the chaos was remarkable.

The desturbing part was when I realized what the crashing sounds they kept hearing were, about 2 min later the french camera man confirmed my fears, it was very sad and kept me choked up through the whole program.

These two guys got some really great footage of the city of NY too,  I'm sure they didn't even plan it that way.  But they actually caught on film all/most of the important people/events that happened that day.  When they were just trying to shoot the FDNY doing its job.

FF Union Upset Over Bootleg 9/11 Video

Quote
Naudet, making a documentary about a probationary firefighter Sept. 11, was with one of the units responding to the scene. He took 90 minutes of video, including some graphic shots of the faces of firefighters who died.

"He came to us and said he didn't want to profit from guys dying," said Edward Burke, a trustee of the Uniformed Firefighters Association. Burke said he first came to them late last year to discuss how to distribute proceeds from the documentary.

Pictures from the video have now been in public print, Burke said, and Naudet came to the union recently and asked that a request be put out to protect against widespread distribution.

The union sent out a warning to its 8,500 members yesterday in the form of an open letter from Naudet.

"Unauthorized and unregulated circulation of the tapes increases the likelihood that the footage will fall into the hands of parties who will make use of the footage in an exploitative manner and without regard to the firefighters' families," the warning said.

It also said that such use "decreases the value of the footage and will therefore reduce the revenue that the fund will receive."

It's not how I've understood at first , at first I only understood that they were trying to increase their revenue and nothing else.

Top notch journalism here.

Not everything deserves a critique.

That show is what TV was invented for. Well done and very compelling.
