error while Installing 1.086 to 1.09 patch
« on: March 14, 2002, 05:43:24 AM »
is anyone else also having trouble installing the 1.086 to 1.09 patch 0, as it stops at updating mindnao.ter, saying it is "not a valid previous version and could not be upgraded" and then the installer exits, leaving me with a stuffed up aces high install. I have tried uninstalling aces high, deleting the directory and then reinstalling but there is no difference. Also installing a new version of the mindnao terrian of the website doesn't work.

Have the same problem installing patch.  I even tried to download the terrain separately from the tarrains on the site.  Still no go.  Since I have a dial up account.  I sure hope I don’t end up having to DL the 29MG version!

Dunno if this is related but I tried the autoupdater and got an error in the install Unable to update stdshap.res

It turns out that the auto installer was trying to shove the files into the wrong place, (an old copy of the terrain editor of all places).  I had to "Browse" for the Aces High directory but EVEN after all that I still had to manually change the path.

Works OK offline and now I'm off to test it in live =)

i still get the same problem, i have tried installing the new mindnao off the website, but it doesn't like it either. And i have no antivirus or firewall programs installed. The patch version i am using is the one you get off the website. If anyone works out what causes it or how to get around it, let me know. But for the moment i will just have to download the full version.

CapU,

Just a thought.  Is the Mindanao terrain in your terrains folder set to read only?

Installing 1.09

I have the same problem: AH1086T1091.EXE quits at Mindanao and exits without finishing the upgrade.  I'm left with a partial upgrade (aceshigh.exe reports 1.09 patch 1, but I don't have any of the new sound files).  I tried going back to a 1.081 full install and then going 108T1084, 1085T1086, and then 1086T1091, but that didn't change anything. Neither did downloading mindanao.exe.  Special circumstances: I don't install AH to its default directory, I put it in D:\AcesHigh.

Will anything short of a wipe and full install fix this?  Thanks.

Edit: My fix was easy: when the MA was reset a few minutes ago, and mindanao.res was autodownloaded, I ran AH1086T1091.exe again and this time it worked all the way through.
