Film editor concern

Unless I'm missing something, I've just become alot less enamored with the film editor than I was. :(

There's no way to save your views along with an edited film?  So we can't make cool little movies for others to watch, bouncing back and forth between victim & killer?  Or more importantly, training films which show views and plane positioning?  Films that automatically show maneuvers from a certain position without the person viewing it having to set up the camera?

I'm assuming that all avi's will be the cockpit view of the guy who recorded it too?

This quickly went from being an incredible teaching tool and just a kick bellybutton entertainment peice, to being something that's almost more work to get any value out of than it's worth.

On top of that, I've had major problems with quite a few of my cut and paste clips.  Only my plane being visible (all others in the sky invisible) and so on.

Bummer.  I waited for this through years of WB and was the only thing I was looking forward to with this update.  :(

Hopefully I'm wrong.

You can swap views and plane while the film is encoding, it records what is on the screen as it runs through.

All my clips are coming up corrupted too though, any time I try to clip it down to a good dogfight all the other planes are all over the place.

the clipping feature doesn't work too well, either for exporting a section to avi or to a new ahf.  the export to avi just starts from the beginning of the film no matter what and the clipped ahf files don't play at all.  also, I can't seem to type in the time for start and end... the only way to get those entered is by fast forwarding or rewinding to the point you want, which takes a while and often crashes the player.

Yep.  I'm able to sometimes get a small clip out that works, but there seems to be no pattern to it.  And I can't seem to get anything decently sized.

Switching views while it's encoding isn't gonna get done what I wanna get done.  What I think most people concerned with using it as a training tool wanna get done.   Particularly since the encoded files are MUCH larger and not as clear as an .ahf clip.

I guess I was expecting Vfilm (from AW) for Aces High.  My wait continues.  5+ years or so now (including my waiting time during WB when a "newer/better Vfilm" was always two weeks away).

Sancho, clipping is to be done when the film is stopped.

Run through films, take keen eye on the time of the event you want to clip out. After you get the start and finish time, stop the film, push "Start Select". Type the starting time. Then push "End Select", and input the end time. After you push the End Select, the "Copy Select" button works. Push it, and you can save it into a seperate ahf file. You should make avis with that seperate file.

On the film editing issue.. I agree.

It is possible to move around all sorts of views, but they are limited to the view options we currently have in AH. And the biggest problem is, the avi recording session is in real-time.. u can't pause and change camera angles and stuff. Your hands have to be mighty fast if you want the 'ugly parts' of camera movements and shakes, correcting views least recorded in your avi. The best way I found so far is using a 3rd party avi editing tool to clip out the frames containing the 'ugly parts', but it's really tough going through 4000 frames and deleting stuff :)
