Noticing how the Hurri 1 has this "no icon shown if con is in prop. arc" enchances the "immersion" factor (for me at least)...

Is there any way to modify this bug into, say, no icon shown when con gets inside the gunsight? Or maybe icon dissapears when con is inside an area HALF the size of the prop?

The idea would be so that people can see icons, find their targets and track them, but when it comes time to shoot, the laserrangefinder dissapears.

While flying the hurri1 I noticed that by just looking to my 1 and 11 oc views I could track a con.. get close in, to inside d500, then when I began to do track the con to get a gun solution (303s... must get inside d200!) , my gunnery went completely off whack.

Why? No icon, the target plane looked big and yummy on my zoomed gunsight.. gave it lead.. missed. Then when the con went to my 1 oc or 11 oc I would realize it was not at d300'ish or close, but at d500! LOL. I had to really fly my plane and get into a real good firing position to start getting shots. Needless to say, this flying part was THE most exciting flying ive had in the MA.. its almost as when I fly H2H without icons!.

If there was a way to make the icons dissapear when the planes are near the gunsight, it'd dramatically increase gameplay in my opinion.

I'm not convinced there's a connection with the prop arc, I think it's more the view through the windscreen.

That said - you've got a point! If the bug's reproducable at will from HTC's side, it would make an interesting CT and events setting.

On that line - any chance of a serverside global no icons setting for events use, HT?

Good idea for the CT or as a personal option from the clipboard. Just don't make it a requirement for all players.

Isn't this the same sort of thing that IL-2 has or am I just imagining how things work there. I have been flying IL-2 the last few days with icons on and I think it works the same way. Of course I have been drinking allot lately.

Not a bad option to have, sort of like the new DAR options which will likely see use in various events.

Having it would please the "more difficult HAS to be more realistic" crowd.

Yes I would l ike Icon titles to be turned off while in gunsight.
It does become difficult to line up for a guns solution on planes in a furball with all the icon labels floating around in the distance.

Can barely make it out with the icon at 1280x1024, without icon I'm shooting at blobs that are supposed to be accurate representations of a plane only a couple hundred yards away.

you can still see the icons with foward view fatty. its only when they get in a small circular area around the gunsight that the icon dissapears. OR make the laserangefinder go away, leave the plane type icon.

You wonder why people can kill with 50's at ranges beyond 500? the icon. Plane size is about the same at d300 to about d550.

On the no icon bug, I lose track of cons that are within several hundred yards, without their ever leaving my gunsight area.

That's hardly realistic. It is harder though.

The bug on the hurri is excessive, you cant see anything in the entire prop arc, from almost 11 oc to 1 oc. But im sure you would be able to keep track of things if the icon only dissapeared when it was straight in front of the plane's nose

Good point, but that's why I said events setting.....

I see it's been fixed now (since the patch); but I still think Tac's on the right track - this could be usefull.
