Yes, she got life with the possibility for parole, and her lawyers are filing an appeal as we speak.

This is just nuts. Yet another shining example of how flawed out legal system is. You may not mind supporting murderers,..but I have a very serious problem with my money being used to feed/cloth/house a person that murdered 5 children.

Ahh... Isn't there some form of Constitutional protection against cruel and unusual punishment? Oh yeah... there is that one little thing... maybe you've heard of the 8th Amendment...

you guys seriously think the father should be charged?

the guy goes off to work one day. before the days out his kids are dead and his wife is the killer.

is there any punishment available that could possably make this guys life worse than it became from that moment forward.

Her husband tried to have her institutionalized but failed. He's not at fault.

One of the purposes of the Death penalty is to ensure that the person in question is no longer a threat to society...I don't believe she is a threat to society, she was just a threat to her kids.

Ever since I started watching this case, my initial reaction has been the squeak be executed and the case closed. I just read on CNN that she's going to solitary confinement indefinatley. I checked up on solitary confinement... 23 hours a day with food slid in under the door. ONE hour to "recreate". I'd never thought of that before, it's scary, definately worse than death IMO. 40yrs of that would be perfect, unfortunately I'm sure it won't be all that long before her "administrative status" is changed and she's allowed to work her way into something far less horrible than solitary. I'll also wager her appeals work well for her. I hope not but I've got that funny feeling.

The best way to spend as little money on criminals as possible is to have conditions that create as few as them as possible.

How to get there, that's a good question.

Personally, I think she should be locked up forever. She's clearly mentally ill. I'm inclined to punish those who aren't, yet committ horrific crimes, harder.

The difference, to me, is between fighting inner demons and losing, nor not knowing how to fight them, and just cold bloodedly deciding to murder another human in the worst way imaginatively, with little or no remorse.

YMMV. Just my opinion.

Damn life in prison whoopee BS!!

They should make her and her family pay for the cost of keeping her alive, and give the family the option at anytime of choosing not to pay at which time, the family has to pay for the execution and disposal of the body...

Keeping her in a mental institution is CRRRAP too, why should the taxpayer pay to heal her? When IMO the taxpayer would NEVER want to see her released.

Did you hear him at the press conference after the sentencing saying she'd of killed them some other way, "poison the cereal". Sounds like he knew she was whacked and he still left them with her. He doesn't look like he's playing with a full deck either ... BUT the prosecutor doesn't want to look like the "bad" guy so this is where it'll end ... five dead innocents, one crazy sucking off the system and another 3/4 crazy wandering around Texas..
