AH 109 does not start.
« on: March 17, 2002, 12:51:24 AM »
When I try to start the game, the screen turns white just like it is going to start, but then I am dumped back onto my desktop. I had the same problem the last time that I had to load a new version, but alas, I cannot remember the fix for it .:(

Try deleting your video7.cfg file from AH, then restart.

I tried what you told me to try and when I opened the game up I got the video setup screen, so I put in the correct settings, but I got the same results. It will go to a white screen like it is going to start but then dumps me back to my DT.

I had the same problem with the patch to get to 1.09. I figured it was a corrupted download since it was real troublesome getting it in the first hours of release. After getting the full version I tried, after uninstalling the bad one, and still got the white screen. Nothing I could do would fix it. Tried clean installs of vid and sound drivers and still nothing. That was Friday morning and Invasion Sicily was getting too close so since I figured that my Win98 Regestry was hosed I decided to reformat both my AH partition as well as my boot partition. Now AH is fine, good framerates > BUT, now that nifty AH Film Viewer is hosed the same way...never have been able to see what everybody's been raving about

The topper is that the scenario only lasted for 10 minutes:(

I deleted all the previous versions and did a complete reinstalland I came up with the same results. I reinstalled the OS about 2 months ago, so I don't believe that is the problem. I appreciate the help that I am getting, keep it coming and we'll figure it out sooner or later. S3:(

Have you tried installing DirectX 8.1?  What version of the Detonator drivers are you using?

Same here had to reformat, downloaded DirectX8.1 and Aces High and now it wont run, before I reformated and had updated from version 1.08 it worked great, there is something wrong with the 26mB new download ! Have tried all of the above suggestions and it still just gives a quick white screen then back to the desk top, the film viewer wont work at all after a while with the hour glass up you get the message this program isnt responding, somethen real goofy with this download

Realized the only thing I hadn't done was install my sound card drivers for the Sound Blaster 5.1, did that and now Aces High loads up fine so ya might wanna look at your sound drivers Snake? Apparently the sound drivers Win2k loads wont co-operate with AH sound or something not sure what it is !

Snake3

Perhaps its time you went to the top....

Send an email direct to HTC about the problem.
Before you do...

Find dxdiag.exe on your machine, run it and save the text file.
Post the text file here, and send it to HTC as well.

Read the News & Announcements forum.  I'd see if the patch this week fixes it for you.  Sounds like that may be the problem.

Snake, what video card do you have?  The Detonator drivers are for nVidia based graphics cards.  Depending on which video card you have, I'll recommend you try different versions of the Detonators.
