How do you turn that stupid (&%& voice stuff off?
« Reply #15 on: March 18, 2002, 12:44:55 PM »
Now that I've finally gotten AHV to work :D I rather like the range channel thing.  It's a feature not found in any other vox system I know of and is quite useful.  How many times in the past have you wanted to say something to a non-squaddie but have been unable to because he wasn't tuned to your vox channel?  Now that problem is solved.

Of course, some people are real windbags with the range thing and talk over your squaddies.  But give them time.  This is a new thing.  Once they start trying to coordinate their squads and get stepped on in their turn, they'll realize that the range thing is like ch 2:  try not to clutter it up.

I like AHV, but I gotta agree with Lazs.  Everytime someone talks on AHV while I'm engaged with a Spit MkI, I ease up on the stick because I think I've pushed a negative G and flooded the engine.  ;)

Even though some of you may not give a "kee rap" I happen to be someone who's experience with AHvoice is much sunnier compared to RW. With RW I was a CTD'n Disco Dancin' m0f0. I'm sure I'm not part of the minority when I say that 1.09 is my favorite release to date. It's my experience lately that the AHV element adds more to the immersion than any other element of AH.

Keep up the most excelent work HT and friends.

What bug is this? Haven't seen this one.

Or are you looking at the auto fuel tank switching and thinking it's a bug? The auto switching tries to keep the plane balanced by burning from one side then alternating to the other side.

Not sure what auto switching is.  :(

But when I select the RW tank (or RAux) tank first, the LW (or RAux) doesn't drain.  If I select the LW tank the RW tank goes down at the same time, (just as fast as).  So I select the RW tank, when it goes dry then the LW tank.  Gives me twice as much fuel. :)

That and the kee rap of all of a sudden the views go to pot.  You know, the 2 key is now upper left instead of forward, the 3 key is right instead of forward right.  Takes forever to get the views back so the hat switch works.

That and the fricken map still has to be called up, dinked around with the mouse to get it where you had it the last time you used it.

And how about all those annoying screens that tells you "so and so wants to join you", or "You can only take 50% fuel" and you have to go find your mouse, and click on it rather than close it with enter?????  And how about having to go to the hangar to now load 50% fuel rather than just say OK?

The darn thing needs polishing not another stupid 109 or 190 to please the Luftwhinners.  Don't they have enough 109/190 models ???  How's about a YAK 3 or a Spit IIV??  Or hell, just looking at the perk system would be a bonus (pun intended)  get some realistic perk pricing, especially on the over priced F4U4, and perk some of the 190s like say 4 perks for a Dora???.

To me, perking should be for the CT match's not for the MA.  Hell, boyz n girlz, the MA is just a Arcade shoot'em up.  There is NOTHING realistic about the MA so why the perks???

AH Vox is a good addition.  For those who haven't been using vox comm, it makes a world of difference.

Just a few words on what I've experienced with vox com-  we've been using vox comms in the 412th FS.  This is a requirement for the squad because it is simply invaluable.  RW was used heavily.  In the last 3 months we've switched to TeamSpeak and have gotten really used to TS.   Our RW experience was similar to other folks- 75-80% stability and some weirdness at times (e.g. people only heard occassionally by all, people not al able to connect to the same host etc.).  TS was a very good experience for us and had some good features.  Stability was around 80-90% though we did have a squad mate that could never get TS working.

My opinion- AH vox is better (more stable and reliable) vs. RW.  AH vox isn't as feature robust as TS.

HTC - Here are some things in my opinion that would be great improvements to AH VOX:
• option to enable or disable ah vox so that you can still use an optional vox comm app.
 • addition of broadcast assignments to various "channels"/"rooms" like in TeamSpeak.  e.g. - in AH Vox - ability to transmit to say ch 200, 201, 202 at the same time.  In TS we had red, blue, green, gold flights designated.  Regular transmit key would transmit to a flight.  You could set up addtional keys to transmit to any combination of individual users or flights.  We had a key set up as "global" and would transmit to all flights.
 •
I am not against AHV per se.

I just don't like it being shoved down our throats as the only option.

Our squad uses RW.

I don't want to listen to other people outside my squad.

Ain't rocket science, just give us the option.

I'm an AK not an AHer.  I joined the AKs about 5 years ago.  I am in the AK Hall of Honor (thus the + at the end of my name).  I like other players in AH, but they aren't my wingmen, and they aren't who I want to talk with when I'm fighting.  I am committed to my AK buddies.

If I wanted online voice chat, I'd go to AOHell  or something.  I'm not a sensitive-linguini-spined-new-age- eco-nazi who wants to get in touch with his feminine side and talk to Dolphins.  I'm a hard prettythang razor toten snake in the grass who wants to talk other AKs so we can kick some serious AH butt! LOL :D

>To me, perking should be for the CT match's not for the MA.

Because then there'd be nothing but solid me-262's from one end to the other.

However, I do think its not set up right.  It should be PURELY on % of use and recalulated every sortie programatically not base on anyones perceived estimate of performance .  It would seek its own equalibrium based on how much people wanted it versus how much they are willing to pay.  This would remove the situations where the poor slow bloated chog is left perked for a year and a MONSTER like the la7 is allowed to run wild because noone has had time to reanalyze the perk values lately.

Also, at first I hated the AHvoice thing.  Now I kinda like it.  You ought to be able to turn it off tho as choice.  Also if on and I squelch some punk on my side, will that squelch his voice too? It better.  There are too many Socrates in the world and sometimes there in my country.

HT... While I  admit to enjoying playing with myself every bit as much (maybe even more) than the next guy...   I don't enjpoy listening to all them other guys.   I would not mind if the squad channel actually was a "squad channel".

Are there plans to make it so that when I tune to "squad" that I only hear (and broadcast) to squad?

And... I guess I can put up with the blinking lights.   I can see where during low numbers times it might be helpfull?

Oh, and I really could use a place to fly them neato early war planes if it's not too much trouble in between drawin up trucks and stuff.
