Without the support of any other country? Well, maybe with nukes, as LtHans said.

Wow, LtHans

I think you need to stop smoking the crack.. it's ruining your brain.

I can agree with point #1 that Europe would become a superpower again.

I think the rest of it underestimates the resolve of people in general. The picture you have formed in my head is that the middle east would blow eachother up and every other country would colapse without the US to "guide us" in our international policys and trading agreement.

You know, we'll still have the UN or will that collapes without the US too?

If the U.S. is destroyed then millions would be dead.  The world economy would be in ruins.  Anarchy would breakout around the world.  However, Canada would still be obsessed w/ the figure skating outcome.  Bizarre-very bizarre.

Check out the years after Rome fell!!  We only have more people now I doubt that they are any more capable than the leaders at the time of the fall of Rome.  The world goes on only the people are different, and they have shown, that no matter what era or what situation they find themselves in, they always maintain their arrogance.

Not bad Hans, but you forgot one rather large (possibly nuclear) war in south-central Asia.

It would become a post-apocolyptic world with strange deformed creatures somewhat resembling humans roaming the earth and Mel Gibson driving around in heavily armed and armored vehicles and a crazy community of children talking about the long long ago....

Yup, just like the movies!

Israel would win because they are technoligically superior to most/all Islamic countries. Israels tactics and strategy are also superior. Guerilla warfare and terrorist activities arent very valid tactics in unlimited war.

LOL!  That got me to thinking.  Could you imagine some invading Army trying to futz around in hmm...Hillbilly country, or down in the Bayou's?  How about South-Central LA? lololol. Just picture a bunch of pissed off Hillbilly's, Cajun's and Gangs all gettin together haha.  Man you'd end up feeling sorry for the poor invaders.

You know, I was going to say that.  Actually, I figured you Aussies might join up with Japan closer, as an enemy in the region (China) could be threating both Taiwan and South Korea.  Then again, you may not.  Depends on what popular opinion about China is in Australia, and if the idea of fighting wars is out of the question or not.

And.....AGAIN!  I seem to be the only guy who has actually responded with a theory.  We've got mostly jokes, a few "It can't happen" and some critiques.  Am I missing something here?

I may give up on this thread.  Nobody other than me has the Cajhones to jump on the soapbox and give his?

They said the same thing about England 100 years ago.  Spain before them.  Rome before even earlier in history.  There will ALWAYS be a major power with everyone else calling them imperialistic, heartless, and arogant.  Doesn't anybody remember how England of the 1800's is potrayed?  They own everything, are super proud of their Navy, and treated the locals with contempt.  It's currently my USA's turn at being the king of the hill, and have rotten fruit thrown at them for just being there.

Do I beleave that my country is a paragon of virtue and perfection?  Not a chance.  We got to this postion by being nearly the last slave owning country and by wipping out the native tribes for their land.  It's only been in the last few decades that the USA has finnally lived up to our own Constitution legally.  Socially is another matter, but I beleave we're getting better each year.

But on the other hand I don't give a rip what anybody argues about "who is better".  To me arguing is pointless.  It is much easier to tell where the good life is by watching immigrant flow.  Who has immigrants?  Who has people leaving?  Who builds walls to keep their people in?  Who builds walls to keep people out?  If your country has immigrants, then your country is a better place than the countries those immigrants came from.

Heh, was I too subtle?  I thought Hans first post was pretty good, but he missed one very obvious flashpoint

Lacking restraining influences, the war which will likely turn nuclear between India and Pakistan finally breaks out of indirect skirmish mode into full war.  How that spills into neighbors east and west is anybody's guess.
