A sad day in the CT...

taking away the strats in the CT would be the DA. I do belive at this stage the CT maps need to be smaller, until the numbers come up. Eliminating strats and field captures while having a 2 sided limited planeset would even lower the numbers IMO.

128x128 maps with harder feild captures i believe is the way to go. I have started adapting this idea. If you look at Perdonia map some feilds have 2 cities that need to be captured to take the feild. In Tunisia map added flaks, and two cities will make it harder for feild captures. I added mannable guns and shore batts and hidden flaks  along some lines to make it even harder to penetrate the "front". Give it time.

What NUTTZ said.  The most fun I've had in the CT was on the Stalingrad map.  Small, historical planes set, neat tactics due to the intersesting setup of the map.

2 suggestions for that server.

1>Nix the CT and make it the RR  arena(gets A1 dweebs outta MA) and make learning AH a more pleasant experience for the less experienced people.

2>Transfer the better aspects of the Ct like reducing icons to 4.5 or something and no icon below 1k (since a good monitor can be had for peanuts these days, pixelation issues).  reduce darbar to 10 miles from bases.

I don't have time right now to adequately answer all the questions or comments in the above posts.  The only way to prevent field captures on most maps is to disable C-47s, M-3's, and LVT's.  Do this, and there's no way to resupply.  Resupply is very nescessary at the moment, because downtimes are so much longer.

Regarding making bombing of strat targets the objective, and doing away with base captures, I've been giving that a lot of thought.  The main problem is that it would be even more suceptable to milkrunning than field captures, given the 24/7 nature of the CT.  One thought I had was to have a period once a day where I or another CT Staff member would open up the scenario logs for 2 or 3 hours (peak hours, of course).  Only bomb damage during that time would count towards victory.  My main concern there is it would leave someone out, no matter what time it was done, either Europe, America, or Asia.  Who do I diss?

I guess the best I can offer is that each week the venue changes, so if you don't like the current set up, at least it's not forever.  The most critical point made above is that we don't want to return to what we had in the CT before the CT Staff was formed.  That is, limited planeset, no field captures, and no players.

????????????????
what on earth is bothering you people about milk runners?

Do they offend you in some way?

Does everyone need to play like we do?

The squad I fly with hasnt taken a base for as long as I have been with it, but we dont complain about others!  I cant even imagine a reason why!

In Perdonia and BOB setups, I have never gotten on and been unable to fly, or find a fight.

Are they teasing you or something?

Bullied by milk runners?

Are they stealing your lunch money?

Sabre,

I think no field capture but strat target bombing affecting the "outcome" would be great.  I don't see a problem with people bombing strat targets to "win the points war".  So long as it doesn't affect the ability of the fighter crowd to grab a plane and find a quick furball, they can have at it!  Look at it this way... the strat bomber types will have a great way to battle each other... and it doesn't matter when they log on.  They can bomb and bomb and bomb, and if they bomb enough, their team wins!  Hooray for them. :)  As long as I can still grab my Hurri 1 and find a few 109's and 110's to play with, I'm happy.  If they are bombing strategic targets toward a specific goal... well I don't call that milk-running anymore.  The beauty of it is that both types of players can be happy this way.

I don't see a downside.  Sounds like a win/win deal to me.  Those that like to bomb, can bomb and help their team win.  Those that like to furball, can furball without the bomber types ruining their fun.  Those that like to intercept buffs or escort buffs can have their fun too.  I like it.
