Next Set-up (tentatively)...
« on: March 20, 2002, 10:56:36 AM »
By popular demand, it's looking like we'll run a BoB set up this weekend.  The emphasis will be mainly A2A, as capturing bases (while possible) will be extremely difficult.  It will use the Europe map, with Germany on the Continent and the English in England.

Planeset:
England - Spit-I, Hur-I, Sea Hurricane-I (on CV's).

Germany - 109E, 110C, Ju88

Both sides will also have PT boats for "Channel work" and LVT(2)'s, M-8's, and M-3's at select bases or fleets.  Other details are being discussed, but I just wanted to let you folks know what was on tap for the weekend.  I've tried to take the comments and concerns of all into account for this set up.  Your feedback in the BoB thread was very helpful.  Thanks.

Sounds cool.  Please give us lots of radar coverage so we can find these fights, and we'll have a BLAST!  With reduced update rate, I'm hoping you'll increase the ranges a bit.

Lephturn, thanks for reminding me about the update rate!  I'd forgotten we now had that option.  I was already planning on increasing Englands radar coverage, to represent the more integrated air defense network they had in place, compared to the German's network (at that time in history).  Germany did possess radar at this time, but was used primarily for finding shipping in the Channel.  They did not have the well developed command and control system the RAF had, though they emulated it later to fend off the Combined Bomber Offensive.

On the otherhand, the radar coverage is a little goofy in this terrain, and we may have to give each side extended coverage by default.  I'll chech that tonight when I get home.  If so, I'll probably increase the update interval...maybe once every three minutes would be a good place to start.
