About that Bar DAR
« on: March 20, 2002, 12:53:09 PM »
Last night, whether through design or accident, there was no bar DAR in CT when I stumbled in there.

If anyone is taking votes on whether to have bar DAR, please count me IN FAVOR OF KEEPING IT!!

A body could meander around forever without finding a fight otherwise.  If the CT ever gets hundreds of people flying in it, or much smaller maps, then, fine, trash the bar DAR for accuracy's sake.  Until then, though, it's one of the things that keeps the game from becoming Flight Simulator.

'sfar as I'm concerned, though, you can keep your little red and green dots.  Once I know what quadrant the fight is in, that's enough.  I like to have SOME surprises, for me and for others (how fair can a guy get, hey?).

It shouldn't be changed. I'll check it this evening. Thanks for the heads up.

Did you check the Strat page on the clipboard?  It may have just been down due to HQ damage.  The strat changes in 1.09 made for longer down times.  Down time is reduced whenever a train arrives at a strat target, but I'm not sure Perdonia has trains running to all the strat targets.  Hblair?

Perdonia does have feilds on each side resupplied. As far as the strat targets (barracks, ammo, flack, etc) they are not resupplied.

I see the next post said both sides were atacking HQ, that would answer the reason why dar was down.

Perdonia is a pretty well balanced map, with forward and mid feilds getting resupplied. With the numbers in the CT, and the quickness this map was put together I saw no need to resupply the strat targets which are far removed from the forward battle fronts.

Sofar, I see very little land grabbing or one side getting completely overwhelmed.

I also submitted A Tunisia map that is 128x128 Half the size of the Perdonia map and half the size we are accustomed to. With the numbers in the CT IMO smaller maps should be the norm. HTC has announced the maps will be much larger in the MA and the whole Strat system will be changing. How this will effect future mapmaking I do not know and wait till I can gather more information on what these strat changes will be.

Crash, We know each other online and IRL, your a smart man, you know how to "squeak" correctly, I suggest you start using your intelligence to "squeak" the correct way:)  Theres alot of people trying to make this work, You are one also, and I know you want to see this succeed. I am not in the CT team but i have made the CT my home, and I will try to do my part to help them succeed.

You know i make maps, drop me suggestions any time bud. Some can be used, some may not be able to use according to HTC's code or terrain editor, You'll have to understand what can and can't be done. I know you've been along time HTC customer since day one. Your suggestion about the static clouds in Perdonia didn't go unnoticed, it was something I personally over looked and thought HTC's default clouds would take over. My mistake and and this has been corrected on all future maps. HTC is still the best game in town.

Future maps are being made ( so i have heard) and with CT maps changing every week there should be something for everyone. The CT team cannot please everyone and there are limitations on what they can do.

I am still learning the Terrain editor and HTC's constant versions are always changing what we can do in a map. with every change we have to rechange our maps. I'm not "squeaking" I think this is a good thing. Many things at HTC go on behind our backs unnoticed by the masses. HTC released 3 or 4 quick changes to the Terrain editor so us mapmakers will have an easier time.
