It comes down to this, The more you kill with the least ordinance in the fastest time, without dieing the better your rank.
For rank purposes lets say your jabo plane of choice is a p47d
you drop 2 x 1000 and 1 500 and kill an fh.
Thats 3 bombs 1 structure.
If you drop that same load on a twn lets say u kill 10 structures with 3 bombs you hit percentage will be higher so will your damage per sortie.
For Rank purpose its never good to ditch you ord to dogfight. You should always drop on target or extend and rtb with youre ord intact.
For instance
Kills per Death in this category you rank 1
Kills per Sortie you rank 1
Kills per Time you rank 1
Hit percentage you 300
Air points you rank 1
Damage per Death you rank 1
Damage per Sortie you rank 1
Bombing percentage you rank 1
Ground points you rank 1
Field captures you rank 1
Kills per Death i rank 25
Kills per Sortie 25

Add all 10 up for you and me
your total is 309 mine is 250 even though you beat me in every category but 1 I will rank higher then you because 250 is less then 300.
300 isnt you rank it the total of the 10 categories. If no one scores lower then 309 then you will bwe ranked 1st if 1 person scores higher then you you will be second. if 10 people score lower then you you will be 11th. If everyone scores higher the you you will be last.
I am a bit rushed to better articulate how it works but you should understand it from this reply.
I have made several posts about ranks do a bbs search for those old threads they explane all you need to know about rank.
My suggestion would be just have fun dont get uptight about ranks.
