Most survivable buff killer in AH?

My vote goes for the F4U-1c.  Its fast, dives extremely well, and is also very very tough.

Havent had much luck in the 262, seems to be more fragile than the F4U.  Other planes either dont have enough cannon ammo or are too slow to be good bomber interceptors.

I'd pick the P-51D.  At high altitudes, ever bomber should fear a P-51D if it's in the hands of a capable pilot.

Bf-110 G-2.
That thing can blast anything to about million pieces in 0,4 sec with 4*20mm MG151/20 + 2*30mm mk-108. Without external gun-rack it takes about 0,5 secs :)

262 too fragile.  110 is too slow to be a good buff killer for me.  Seems like the 110 is always attacking from the 6:00 position due to lack of speed.

peee47 or Chog

Chog cuz it can kill a buff, with shots that from any non-hispano plane would only scratch, therefor reducing the number of passes required for the hog.

I like the 262, if you're talking just about the plane and not costs.  There is something to be said about being able to make a vertical pass from beneath at 500+mph, especially with 30mm on board.

I lost a 262 doing that fatty.  Was comming in from low 6 out of gun range.  Was doing about 375-400tas.  When I got infront the of the bomber, I went vertical to rake the bombers underside.  I fired on the bomber, and as I was about d25 above the bomber, my plane suddenly explodes.  I have reviewed the gun camera footage, but I dont see any tracers.  Nor does it appear to be a collision.  I have no idea what killed me.

Best buff killer is pilot, who is in a plane, not a plane itself :)

Serously though, there are many good anti-buff planes, and the one you choose is up to your preferences. I think 109g10 is a great because it has 30mm, and best climb rate to get to 30k in minutes to meet high raid.

P-38L is a very good buff killer.  Actually any fighter would be a good buff killer if the pilot is smart in his attacks.  So far this campaign I've got 14 kills on B-17's while only being shot down twice by them.

TA152 wasn't made to knock down buffs actually, it was a long range range fighter, capeble of doing alot of things, specially take care of enemyfighters at high alt.
The C versions of it were buff killers, not quite as fast and good up high (although better then normal 190) but GREAT armament and good low alt speed.

F4u-1C would be my choice too, or a P47. Those guns can just get kills a FAAAAAR ranges.

Ok Fariz and akak, I agree partially that the pilot makes a big difference in killing bombers.  But if you take a good pilot and put him in a C202, and take an average/below average pilot and put him in a F4U-1c, I think the F4U-1c has a better chance of downing a bomber than the 202.

I read an article on the internet that said the USAF admitted that the F4U was able to withstand more combat damage than the P47, can anyone verify this?
