Fishing Trip
« on: March 24, 2002, 03:30:26 PM »
Whew!  Just got done getting beat up for 2.5 days in 2-4 foot white caps and 10-25 mph winds!! What a  weekend, saw temperature ranges from the uppter 30's to the lower 70's. Froze and got sunburn all in the same day :)

Friday sucked and no fish were caught. Saturday sucked too and out of 9 hours in the water only 7 fish were brought in.  They were all good fish, but nothing was biting this weekend. The catch of the day saturday was a 21" striper bass my roommate brought in on a crappie rod :) Took him over 5 minutes on that light line hehe.  I caught a good 15" white bass on saturday (that's a good size for a white.

This morning was more fun, though we only caught about 10 fish and only kept 2.  We found a school of crappie at about 9:30 and worked them for a couple of hours.  We had a few in the boat until my roommate caught a good one followed by me 10 minutes later with the grandaddy whopper of all crappies. So we threw the little ones out and kept our 2 bigguns :)

Mine is the big one on the left :) Anybody who's been crappie fishing will know how big these suckers are :)  They aren't big like bass or catfish but the big one there is about 18". The biggest one I ever caught before that was about 14 or 15".

My roommate got a nice bass boat last week so this pretty much looks like what our summer is going to be all about :)

woooohoooo I love fishin!

[edit]

those 2 fish are now in my roommate's and mine stomaches :)  the reason I don't have pics of yesterdays catch is because we cleaned it last night before we got home to the web cam.

Fishing?!! this is how real men fish....
"Willy's gone and made another,
Something like it's elder brother-
Wing tips rounded, spinner's bigger.
Unbraced tailplane ends it's figure.
One-O-nine F is it's name-
F is for futile, not for fame."

Good stuff, Udie!  Here is my normal position whilst enjoying Lake Buchanan:

It always seems to be 105 degrees when we are there(we fish at night).

Nice Udie! Get your butt up to the PNW and we'll do some Salmon fishing!  Might even snare a seal or two (another story, for another thread!)

There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!
