MS Force Feedback 2 problems
« on: March 26, 2002, 10:47:51 AM »
Hi,

Ive been having some problems with my joystick.
Sometimes (dont know the pattern) my stick stops
responding during flight. (usually during battle)

Actually the whole WIN2000 loses the stick somehow.
I can see OK status in Game controller -control panel but
the stick is still not working. When I plug the stick to other
USB port and after WIN 'installs' the drivers again I can return
to AH.

Anyone having solutions?

Setup:
WIN2000
VIA USB (stick driver patch installed)

I have the same problem with my MS Force Feedback.   I will be flying and then need to check my view or move my stick and nothing happens.  I have Windows 98 on an old dinosaur (550 pentium III).

I usually end up rebooting and reloging.  If you find an answer, please post!

thanks!:)

Yes I have. All two of them.

If I remember correctly I didnt have these problems
in v.1.08 of AH. Could it be some bug in 1.09 ?

Of course it could also be so that the stick is dying
naturally due heavy use.

Do you have any other devices that hook up vi the usb port? If you have the same issues with the other devices then you may be looking at the port or the operating system.

Have you tried this joystick on another computer? Like say one you have or bring it to a friends house and try it out. If you get the same issue your stick or the wire on the stick may be going bad.

Also have you tried downloading the service pack for windows 2000? If you look at the list of fixes there are several that deal with usb.

I'm running the Microsoft Force Feedback 2 on a USB 2.0 hub and twice a day the joystick stops working, ending almost always in the ground, killed.

Not shure if the problem started with the 1.09 version, but long ago the stick was ok in all other games.

I should have mentioned that I have already
found some kind of solution.

But the problem is that I dont exactly
remember it anymore...

I guess I installed newer version of VIA chipset
drivers. At least the problem is gone.

If you have VIA chip I'd recommend trying my
solution.
