AH after a week of playing.
« on: March 26, 2002, 01:13:20 PM »
I have been a Warbirds guys for 4 years and I have been playing Aces High for a week now.

Here are my thoughts

Good...
1. Planes fall apart when I shoot them (I really like the 1:1 bullet modelling and damage they do.
2. Good choice of planes as of 1.09 nice to see some early war stuff coming in.
3. FM's "feel" good for the few planes I have flown (most time in the corsair, rolls very well)
4. Combat trim nice for flying to the fight, and I can turn it off for landing and dogfighting.
5. Graphics are good and I like the tracers, strange the first couple sorties but very cool now.
6. 450 people in the arena when I come on at night woohoo! :D
7. Pilot getting hurt very cool, had no idea it was there until I started blacking out.
8. Maning guns on ships
9. Flying with the old squadies again...even lazs ;)

Not so good...
1. AH voice I like it but, according to my squadmates my voices is very low. I tried changing setting in AH and in windows to no avail, once I can get this sorted out it will be in my good column.
2. auto 6 call, don't like it at all, it takes surprise pounces away.
3. I get a few too many warps when cons are about d1 away.
4. no right-click 6 call

indifferent
1. ground vehicles and bombers, I don't use ground vehicles and I haven't tried bombers yet.

Conclusion
I am staying.

Hiya Narsus! Welcome!  WB's here from Beta to V2.76, as you know, many others as well.

Auto check 6?  I think someone has to initiate it, its not automatic.
Patch is OTW to help out the AHVoice thing.

When you get your wings wet flying a bit, try the GV's and bombers, they can be quite alot of fun, and add a nice diversion to the same ol,same ol' stuff.

Sometimes it's too low, after a while it can/may fix itself. Sometimes it just stays low. Dunno what's up with that.

Auto 6 call? What's this? Must be some feature I've never heard about.

This will be fixed with the new T3.. whenever it gets setup.

Ah, but we do have one. It must be that "auto" check 6 call you are referring to. The one which almost no one uses except for my squad and the AH "vets". This requires you to keymap a button, and you must cycle through everyone in your view to get to the person you want to send a check 6 call to. Hardly "auto".

They are the gamiest aspect of this game. Simplified all around. Not much to 'em.

There are not any auto 6 calls,we have a different version of the right click 6 call, instead of right clicking , just look at the guy you wish to give a 6 call and press ' .

The softness you have is most likly addressed in patch 2 . Just choose use wave in in the voice setup and reboot. If this dosn't fix it and you have a sound blaster, grab the drivers from creative, it has fixed some people.

You might want to add a number 10 to that 'Good' list....

10. Developers actually monitor and reply to users in their own forums

"...and review and implement players suggestions."

:)

HT,

In order to better promote AHVoice I would like to recommend disabling the view center 6call feature.  Its not really needed now and everyone would be tuned into range channel to gain the help of local friends.  Some of less cerebral quality than I would insinuate that this is just for my benifit but thats only partly true.

Also,
would you consider adding sliders for treble and bass to the sounds setup screen.  It would be cool to be able to increase and/or decrease treble and bass on the individual sounds.

Also also,
would you consider giving players the option to customize the colours of the various text in the buffer, independant if icon colours?

Just some random ramblings that epiphonied onto me recently.

thats a terrible recomendation..........

theres no difference in hitting a button and saying "check 6"

and hitting a button and having a wav file say it.

Narsus welcome to ah

theres a whole bunch of sound files out there.

you can change that "check 6" call to what ever wav file you want.

Its close to the right click 6 call in wb except instead of text it sends a wav file. I have several. By putting the check 6 in each plane type folder you can have brit accent for brit planes. german calls, Basically each plane can have its own call.

Anyway welcome to AH I hope you enjoy your stay.......

And I've never once heard HT have to say:

"Well, we would that feature, but unfortunatly the Mac can't handle it."

Ahhhh... six call is manual didn't realize that and didn't know how to do it so I thought it was auto. Ok kick the one out of my not so good column.
