I made two avi files from the same film. One from the chase view and the other from an internal padlock. I used VirtualDub to edit out segments and match the two in time. I also used it to add the sound track. I used Goldwave to shorten and convert the mp3 to wav.
I then loaded 'em in a program that came with my digitizer: MGI Video Wave SE. It let me put the two together as picture-in-picture. I could have used it to save as .rm for Real Player but decided to use Real Producer Basic.
No idea what is broken in trial but here's a link for an eval download of MGI Videowave:

good show Iron!!
i wish we could do a wide screen with the hilm viewer.....are there any aftermarket programs/apps that will let you crop a movie? (as far as free apps go)

Not sure I understand what you're looking for Mason but VirtualDub (as well as others) will allow you to alter the size/shape of the AVI.
