Pricewatch follies

I'm getting peeved, mostly because I'm impatient but I can't believe how hard it is to get a freekin videocard these days.

1.  Pre-order the Asus G4 last month, due in 8 March.  2 delays later (bout the 20th) I say the heck with Asus and cancel.

2.  I cancel Asus cuz I found a Leadtek "in-stock" (evil grin) I'll have this baby in 2 days!!  Place order.  Recieve email following day "we're sorry, the item you ordered is out of stock"  I call... "Do you have any G4 Ti4600's at ALL?..and by the way, update your dang website!"  Answer: "Why yes sir, shall we change your order to the PNY, we have plenty of those?"  My reply "Ever wonder WHY you have so many PNY's? Cancel the order" <<
2.  Find a Leadtek on yet another website "in-stock" (last Friday morn).  I fill out online order form and just before I hit "send", I CALL.  "Hello, I'm calling to confirm that you do indeed have the Leadtek G4 Ti4600 video card in stock"  The sales guy goes to check and comes back to the phone.  "You bet, we have them in stock and ready to go".  ALRIGHT!!  "Now, your sure right?  Can I hit send now in confidence?"  He says no problem..go for it.  Tuesday, the day before I'm expecting the dang thing to arrive Fedex, I shoot them an email requesting Fedex shipping number.  "We're sorry for the inconvenience, but the item you orderd is not in stock, they are due in next Friday"  GRRRRRRRR!!!!

... I'm thinking seriously about cancelling this order and pre-ordering a freekin Geforce 5, probably get it quicker..sheesh.

This is one reason why I truly prefer to buy things locally... even if it means paying 15% more.

Tumor go check out a company called PowerUp, Inc. from Houston, TX. I found a GF4 Ti4400 the same day I found out like you that my initial order from Micropro.com was back ordered for at least a month. I bought the Abit Siluro for $275 and they had 1 in stock and I asked the guy to go put his hands on it and ship it to me. He shipped it last Thursday and I got it on this past Monday afternoon.

If you call them ask for a guy named Chuck Bird and tell him that Will Nichols from Alabama referred you to them. He was probably the best sales rep I have spoken with on the phone in a long time when it comes to computer hardware.
