Stats page errors?
« on: March 28, 2002, 09:34:22 AM »
On the stats page, I'm listed at 126 kills for tour 26..
On the score page, I'm listed at 121 total kills and 28 assists..

Is there a reason those numbers don't match?

Both pages track kills differently.  The stats page tracks kills by the system messages.  Basically... any time you see a "you killed xxxx", you are awarded a kill.  The only time the stats page tracks a death is when someone is awarded a kill for your death.

The score page tracks kills by sortie type.  If you kill a GV on a fighter mission, no kill is recorded.  There might be a couple of other criteria... like getting a maneuver kill without putting any rounds into the plane first or some things like that.  Also, the score page tracks all deaths regardless if it was awarded as a kill to someone else or not.

So... if you get in an HO and you are awarded the kill as you spiral toward the earth then die without the other pilot being rewarded for your death, the stats page would show that as 1 kill and 0 deaths.  The score page would show that as 1 kill and 1 death.  If you were on a fighter mission and decided to try to straff an ostwind and zoomed in getting him, but dieing in the process (you were awarded kill before you augered).. the stats page would show that as 1 kill and 0 deaths while the score page would show that as 0 kills and 1 death.

The end result?  The score page will always show you with fewer kills and more deaths.  The stats page will always show you with more kills and fewer deaths.
