IJN Forces are not well represented
« on: March 31, 2002, 12:43:24 PM »
I read the thread about plane set development.  Good stuff.

While I agree that realism will draw and keep sim pilots, I also feel that aircraft representation draws just as many.

The IJN development in AH is sad to say the least. BTW, thanks for the KI-67!!!
US Iron and British Power is very dominant.  LW seems rather well off too.
But other than the N1K2, the IJN fighters are suffering.
I realize that development time is precious and may preclude the harder jobs like the KI-84, but it should be easy to add more A6M types right?

Of course, I would rather see the KI-84.

I think that the late war USA planeset is doing well, as are the general RAF and Luftwaffe planesets.  In all three cases there are good aircraft not yet added, but I think they can wait.

I would like to see a focus on the Japanese planeset in particular, but also on the early war USA, Russian and a little bit on Italian planesets.

We need the vehicle set to be worked on, nationality doesn't really matter here as it is so limited.

My hope for 1.10 is some combination of 6-8 units out of the following:

Sherman (76mm)
T-34/85
Panther V G (perk)
A6M2
A6M3
F4F3
D3A1
SBD-3
B5N1
B6N2
P-40
P-39
Ki-44
Ki-84
J2M3
Tu-2S
Yak-3
MiG-3
I-16
Pe-2
G.55
S.M.79-II

HOT DAMN !  sounds like good planeset there. Especially like all them slow planes ,,just what is needed in AH more cannon fodder.

Just see it now,, all them new Jap. slow planes ,,,be the Aces High Turkey shoot !

LOL forget that slow watermelon  put the ki84 and latest model twin eng Jap. hvy fighter plane in the planeset and forget the Turkey Shoot garbage.  All them slow unarmored planes are a waste of resources at HTC.

AmRaaM,

The Ki44, Ki84, J2M3 and B6N2 all meet your critieria and all were on my list.

The Tu-2S and Yak-3 also meet that criteria, although they are Russian.

Contrary to your beliefs AmRaaM....not all planes that HTC develops is for use in the MA.  I personally would love to have more of the 'slow, outclassed, early war cannon fodder' for use in scenarios.  There are so many things we as a CM corps would like to do, but our hands are tied by the lack of an early war PAC planeset.

I think that planeset was great. I would love to see more IJN planes. I would love to see Midway and Pacific battles. I can see there ya'll are comming from. There area a lot of British and German A/C. It's time to focus on the IJN and other countries A/C.
I'm just repeating what has already been said; you got my vote. Love to see that white painted Zero, Kates,Vals, and P-40,39 blazin' across the skies. As it stands i think the current planset is wonderful. Of course more is always better, just wanting to fly thoses unpopular early, slow planes.
Oh... and prek the darn Ostwind :D
