Going out on a limb, I'd say it's the R.Smg. Foca.

It's a photo from Betasom (Bordeaux Sub. Base for Reggiamarina).

I can't locate the picture tho (nice job, brady

).

I would say Italian Brin Class. Probably Smg. Brin or Smg. Guglielmotti.

I belive you're right Pepe, the Foca and Brin have a very similar sail silhouette but the bow on the Brin is rounded whereas the Foca's is more pointed.

Either BRIN or FOCA class.

Hard to tell by the angle of the photo as you can't judge the lenght of the sail.

The Book I scaned this pic from states this to be an Archimede class boat, in fact it says outright that this is the Archimede herself.

I dont think so my self. I beleave this to be a Foca class boat.

Foca Class (Smg. Foca, Smg. Atropo and Smg. Zoea) present a different bow profile, and different conning tower. Please find differences with pics of Foca and Zoea.

I think the boat in your pic is clearly a Brin Class. I doubt it is the Smg. Archimede since she was sold (along with Smg. Torricelli) to Spain in April, 1.937, and the pic is taken from Betasom port, in war time. That leaves the possiblility of she being either the Smg. Brin, Smg. Galvani or Smg. Guglielmotti. I enclose pic of General Mola where you can see the similar bow profile, although conning tower is different, and deck gun is present.
