Problems with LOCKUPS
« on: April 02, 2002, 12:25:23 AM »
After PATCH 2, I have had nothing but problems with my computer locking up.  I have never had a problem before with Aces locking up before this patch.

Almost always it will HARD-LOCK, and I have to Reset the computer.  Once it just crashed me back to the desktop.

I have completely removed aces high and downloaded the full version of the latest install.  I installed it and it made absolutly no difference.

Please release a new patch that resolves this problem.  I have had a lockup EVERY time I've played since the patch, and always happens during my first flight within 10-20 minutes of flight time.

PLEASE HELP!

Pand

Hmmm, well there are those who do NOT have these problems, including me.  Please post your system details, OS, DX version and video driver versions.  I may be able to give you some things to try that may help.

What sound card are you running?  I was having the same problems with the release of 1.09.  I had a SB audigy mp3, switched back to SB Live xgamer and ALL my problems went away.  Game runs rock solid w/ FR in high 40's / lo 50's.  Don't know if I had a bad card or what, but it might be an area to look into.

I had a lockup last night (4/1/02) about 11:45 PM EST. When I tried to relog, the main server was closed, but I could get into the CT. Did the server dump again or is this a problem on my end?

Widewing, I think the server dumped last night,  RRR was in the process of field capture and my screen froze, and I had to reboot.  When I logged back in MA was closed.   Spoke to shoulman today and he had same issue.

Seems ok

AMD 1800XP+
512 DDR
SB Live Platinum
Gainward Geforce3 128MB Ti200

After tearing everything apart, I upgraded to the Detonator 28.32 drivers adn all seems to be okay, as of now -- knock on wood =)
but the change in driver has dropped my FPS a little from 80 in 1600x1200 to 70 in 1600x1200 -- but it's better than lock ups!

Thanks for the help guys!

Justin

same here with lockups plus now my frame rate is 9

framerate used to be fine.  Something in the last couple of patches has dropped it down and now I lock up while in the game and have to hard reboot.

Celeron 300 O'Clocked to 450
256mb 100mhz SDRAM
Geforce2 256
Abit BH6 MB
latest drivers downloaded for hardware.
DirectX 8.1

Your system being overclocked could have something to do with it. What drivers do you have installed for the gforce? Try installing these

Okay, I'm glad to hear that others locked up last night just before midnight EST. First time it's ever happened to me so I guess it's not the same thing Pand is dealing with.

A lot of lockups are sound related. Try sliding the sound accelerator in Dire3ct X Diag back a notch.

Several lockups here also. If they are sound related, I have an Audigy with latests drivers update from Creative (W98). Video, sound or whatever related, I have lockups only with AH and since the last patch (hard reset needed).

I've found that my audio card is using same interrupt as my GF3 (both using 5),  but no conflicts at all are shown in the system. In any case, any way to reassign the IRQ to the Audigy?

Definitely shift your soundcard to a different slot (if you have one).

I don't know, I know these problems can be a bind, with so much advice from different people, but sharing IRQ,s on your Geforce is definitely a known problem.

Strange all you guys are having probs since the last patch though. I've been OK apart from more discoes.

1800XP
Geforce3 Ti500 21.83's
MSI KT7266 Pro
Audigy Player,
Win XP Home DX 8.1
ISDN

Good Luck.

PS. Listen to Lephturn guys. He IS the hardware man!:D

FOGOLD, thanks for your reply. shifting the Audigy to a different PCI slot will change the IRQ used by it?
