go Fck myself?
« on: April 04, 2002, 01:58:16 PM »
Last night I was stalking an nme radar contact in my 109g-10.
it was approachng my airbase from the south.  I suspected a
buff, but it was moving to fast.  perhaps a heavy fitr gonna
drop a egg or 2.  I climbed hard and positioned myself to
blindside im right before he started his run.  Cool, my fellow,
country man has spotted him and is causing a nice disrtaction.
I put the coals to my g-10 and caught the nme p51d trying
to outzoom my fellow country man.  Just as the nme p51d is
looping over the top, his airspeed near 0, mine close to 300,
I let loose with my 2 13mm's and 1 20mm.  Put some good lead
into him and I heard the boom as I zinged past.
A brilliant bnz?  or a kill steal?  I got the usual dose of
whine from the victim but my dear fellow country man
ask me if I couldnt see that he was engaged with the
p51d.  "yes" I replied.
"Then why did u jump in and steal the kill?"  he asked
  "?!?!? "  I replied
"Go to the DA ," I said", its impossible to assess
whether I am clearing a 6 or stealing a Kill at 300mph."
  "Go FCK yerself" he retarded.
I wont bring up any names here, but, if you happen to read this,
jsut realize that I was tracking the con long before u
bungled into the situation, and just because I am not
butterfly dancin with the guy doesnt mean i am not engaged!!
Take yer punk arse to the DA, where there are unwritten
rules of conduct.
  MA is for killers.

How desperate for a kill are you in these circumstances? (Not you whthwk, the other guy) I mean if you're a good energy fighter, you are going to set people up, and sooner or later SOMEONE is going to steal that kill. Take it in the spirit of teamwork I say. Seeker stole one right from under me a few nights ago. We joked about it. My squad mates are always doing it. And frankly I'm happy, because if they didn't then sooner or later, I'm going to be getting my bellybutton kicked, and they would just fly by and let me die.

And look at it that way. Lets say you let that fight go, and your countryman dies... he'll probably start ranting about how you just "left him hanging" while the pony bounced him. You can't win with some people. That's why we get to .squelch them :)

Kind of a bad situation any way you approach it isn't it?  I've rarely been accused of stealing a kill in a similar situation, but then again if you do nothing you often get yelled at for not helping.  I usually try to ask if they would like help if I know the friendly is a good pilot.  AH voice is really helpful for this.  Before you couldn't really expect them to take their hands off the stick and type something.  (Or even look at the test buffer for that matter.)

Take it easy WhiteHawk its just a game and some ppl just lose their temper sometimes... (I do all the time but I solve it by loging off for a minute or two to le the steam out and then loging back in this works for me... some other ppl just go verbal...) ;)

Oh, one other thing... I think I might have stolen a kill from Oxman right after Seeker stole one from me, so I guess there's some kind of Karma factor at work.

Everyone steals someones kill for the first time one day.... But sometimes its really hard to judge if you are stealing kill or saving someone's butt... But basicaly if you dont kill the bad guy you are giving him a chance to kill a good guy...

AH VOICE range channell helps prevent this now.

Example:  (Pollock) in in on dweeb NIK,  (other guy persuing) rgr,
(Pollock) pinged him im vertical off (other guy)  im on em, (Pollock) rgr, (other guy) he's down no wing (Pollock) good kill
(other guy) thanks man.

Im sure if I took off his wing the other guy would have broken off because we were communicating.

Im not saying this will happen all the time but I think AH voice will help reduce the times when you think you have been snaked out of a kill.

A kill steal is when someone shoots a plane after someone has already disabled it and it's falling to earth. There are some very good kill stealers in the MA. Over the shoulder conga line shooting isn't kill stealing just a bit of bad taste, nothing more. Anything else is fair game IMO since there is damn near no respect for 1v1's in the MA. After saying that I'll reflect on my latest true 1v1 in La7's a few nights ago...THAT was fun but it happens so danged rarely in the MA.

so you finally found someone slow enough to steal kills from, Seeker?

Surrounded by suck and underwhelmed with mediocrity.
I'm always right, it just takes some poepl longer to come to that realization than others.

Hear hear!!!

I agree...the only good enemy is a dead enemy. I fly with the most inconsiderate lowdown kill steeelin dirtbags in the MA...they are my squadmates:)

Our priority is to kill as many bad guys as possible...who gets the kill is irrelevant as long as they fly the 13th TAS colors.

If it's a one v one with no other activity nearby, I'll standdown. If, however, someone is one v one and other enemy is present, I'm going to kill that guy as fast as possible because I know more are otw. If I showed this wonderful respect thingie in the latter circumstance, what would happen is the friendly would end up gettin shot down and the one plane that kills me would be the one initially engaged with the friendly that I should have engaged in the first place.

Did that make any sense?:)

Its because of situations like this that HTC should impliment a right mouse button "I got dibs" call.

I've had a fight with before... where I've pulled a perfect rope-a-dope and had the enemy just flopping around 1k below me... only to have a plane swoop in and nail him as he hung there.  My thoughts on that... I need to figure out a faster way to get over the top in a rope-a-dope.

Don't sweat it whitehawk. I advise you not to care too awful much about what other people think or say about you. There are some people who are just natural retards. To heck with 'em. Just swap countries and kill 'em. :)
