I know, I know,  (Airscrew waves hand frantically)

A26,   yes need it, want it, gimme, gimme, gotta have it

Oh no, maybe not, looking at it again, could it be a P61, oh the agony

Nope, I'll stick with A26,  Alex I'll take Fighter bombers for $200.

What is a fearsome atttack plane with 12? forward firing 50's.

I think its a  P-61. The A-26 didnt have 2 separate canopies.

You maybe right Tac,  Now that I look at it again nose seems too long for A26,  but didnt early versions of A26 have clear nose for bomber position?

it's not a black widow, the canopy is totally different and the engines are too far forward.here's how the P61 looks like:

I couldn't be a P61, that plane only has 3 Bladed Props and the P61 had 4 Bladed Props. Then again their may have been an eariler ver. of the 61 with 3 Blades. I know didly-squat about most planes.

Well that was fun...........here is the full pic.

Quote
It was the last aircraft to bomb North Korea, dropping a bomb load just 3 minutes before the cease-fire was signed. Several A-26's were supplied to Cuban revolutionaries during the Bay of Pigs. The ground attack version mounted a 75mm cannon in the nose for tank busting.

The aircraft at the Museum is a C model serial number 44-35224. It was built by Douglas Aircraft in Tulsa, Oklahoma and delivered to the Army Air Force on 26 March 1945. It flew with the 4255th, 4160th and 4117th Base Units and then the 107th and 122nd Bomb Squadrons. It flew with the 3rd Bomb Wing in Korea, 1952. It was retired from Air Force inventory in June 1958.
